He’s a passionate fan on FOOTBALL FANS panel not an advisory for the chancellor of the exchequer ffs!!!
I totally agree... for someone to be in such position it's very unprofessional. What was the sifting process to join the FAB? Obviously not right good. Apologies or not it's not acceptable to use such language and view just because of frustration.
In my defence, your Honour, I was elected to represent the diversity and community of our fanbase, and as a regular supporter through thick and thin (more thIn than thick) since I first moved to the Barnsley area in 1968 and a volunteer at the club since 1973 I will continue to do so, as long as I am wanted. If I am not wanted, I feel sure that fellow supporters who either do not agree with my opinions and views, or feel they have more to say, yourself obviously included, will elect someone in my place. And just for the record, I am not up the club's arse.
From the Barnsley fc official page... The creation of the Fans Advisory Board represents a fantastic opportunity to enhance communication and collaboration between Barnsley FC and our supporters. We believe this board will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our club by providing valuable feedback and insights. More information on the FAB members will be released shortly, including their contact details and methods of communication. We look forward to the positive impact this board will have on Barnsley FC and our entire fanbase. Your original post certainly doesn't support the above
Stop apologising…….you’ve not said anything wrong!! A bet 75% on this board wouldn’t dare dream of spouting off to the owners or other members faces, you’ve said your piece so let them come to the meeting and ask away.
I’m sure you realise that not everyone can attend such meetings even if they wanted to. Even if they thought they might make a difference. Am I allowed to venture the point that, by making my investment in the club every season through season tickets etc., this gives me the right to have an opinion? Or is that only a right given to people who attend said meeting?
He is. And there's nothing wrong with passion. Or commitment. As I said, I have no issue with the sentiment of his post, he's right to ask those who continually bemoan the way the club is run to come to the meeting and present their issues to the board rather than just moan on the internet. However, calling the people he represents conspiracy theorists etc and telling them to shut the f' up if they can't/won't attend the meeting doesn't do him or the FAB any favours.
Let’s be right here, how many posts have we had to endure over the last 5/6 years of folk absolutely piss area whinging about anything and everything, the constant sniping at JAQ Nareev Cryne’s, the assumptions etc, well he’s probably had enough and called them out. He could’ve been a little cuter with his post given his position but ultimately he’s said his piece so let’s see what the meeting brings.
Sifting process to join the FAB was done through initial meetings, to which all fans were invited. Voting took place at those meetings. Since then two other members have joined after responding to posts advising of vacancies. Given ND's apologies in this thread I do think posters should now accept those apologies and move on.
Won't ever happen. Last season it felt like 90% of the users of this forum wanted the manager out. That figure may be inflated but I reckon it was 90% of those making a lot of noise. At games the atmosphere was toxic towards Collins and the team. Often, calls for the manager to go came in games we went on to win. The manager and the team were very resilient and Collins knew a thing or two about how to change a game to our benefit. We were one of the best teams in all leagues at winning games after going behind, certainly the best Barnsley team at recovering from a deficit in all the time I've been watching. And that came after years of knowing if we conceded first, we lost, even under Duff. I never wanted the manager out. We were in the play-off places for pretty much the whole season. But with one game to go, with, as it turned out, the play-offs already secured, the vocal fans got their wish and we sacked the manager. And with that ludicrous decision we gave up any chance of winning those play-offs. I'm not getting on the same page as that nonsense I don't want to be as one with the reactionary and the entitled.
Spot on, Jay. We had numerous polls on here, asking whether Collins should be sacked. The answer was a resounding NO from approximately 2/3rds of the voters yet the mouthy minority made it seem like it was the other way around. A little bit of history repeating itself in recent weeks ....maybe we'll be signing Bassi on loan come the January window
What benefit would there be of Darrell Clarke being there? Surely the whole point of a fan engagement forum is to bring to task the people who are running the football club.
You couldn't be further from the truth. There will always be the 1 or 2 that are a waste of space. (You accuse ND of being up the clubs arse it seems. I didnt agree with their post but get the frustration. I dont know him/her to give an opinion) In it for themselves and not those they represent. But I personally know a few on the board who will endeavour to stand up for the fans they represent. Things have been achieved from these meetings. Now the club are in a clearer position as to where they stand with the ground. I expect things to start happening. If it becomes a waste of time. Those i refer to will resign. So give it a chance. If people wish to talk about team selections. Shagging etc. I'd say stay away. It's not acceptable in my opinion. If you want to see how the structure is going to work and updates on facilities. Get yersens darn. At least give it a chance. Then complain if nowt happens. Stuff is happening as I say. I'm not fully in the picture so will be interested in the minutes that come out from the meeting.
