What a Bizzare thread this has turned out to be.
Let him who has never sinned, cast the first stone. Springs to mind.
They've apologised. (And I'm pretty sure no one would expect to be vetted for a role such as the FAB, voluntary btw. And the FAB are not looking after kids.) What I will say is. If they dont take it seriously. Then like any other institution paid or unpaid they'll be voted off next time.
And those with the loudest voices that can speak up for the general fan and not just themselves. If able, apply for a position.
    Anyone going. :)?

I agree about the Sky deal and I suspect that if you raised it at the meeting those from the Club would say that they are powerless to do anything about the change of dates for fixtures because, as members of the EFL, they have to comply with the deal the EFL have negotiated with Sky.

I agree. I don’t tend to moan much about individual players, the coaches, or the ownership. But the Sky deal is different. Could be a deal-breaker for me.

Pile ons used to be hilarious at school, but of course, that's a different subject altogether. :D

I just want to comment given I'm just picking this thread up now.

I see you've apologised, and that's fair enough and accepted. I'll never be able to understand why this was your first thought as a way to generate interest and attendance though.

I'm in a minority here that I'm unable to attend games. Not just through distance. But circumstances too. I suspect I'll never be able to step inside a sporting ground again, though I've made my peace with that. There will be others who cannot get to games and only see action through replays, highlights or the streaming services. Those people still care about the club and have concerns about some things. Yes, there are some people who will never be happy. And some who make ridiculous doom saying comments taken to the most hyperbole imaginable. Frankly, let them be, you won't change their minds anyway.

But... And this is my main concern. You stated you represent diversity. Diversity essentially means all. Age, race, gender, ability etc. But you are representing everyone. Not the club. Everyone, who identifies as a Barnsley fan. To make the statement you did, with such froth... I find disappointing beyond words. In that statement alone, you demonstrated your first thoughts weren't the diversity of the fan base at all. That pushes your position of responsibility towards untenable.

I'd also suggest that given you are now a representative, your opinions aren't a major factor. You facilitate topics, issues and ideas for your area of responsibility to improve the experiences of the fan base. It's not for you to have an emboldened louder voice. Your role is conduit for the fans.

I bear you no malice and everyone makes mistakes. I do think you should consider your first reaction though and perhaps consider how you can better demonstrate being a valuable conduit for fans who can't make their questions in person however much they would like to.

This thread is depressing in some places; only just seen it.

The OP is out of order in language and tone but has apologised so there’s no point dwelling on that.

But the assertion that you have to attend a fans forum with limited access numbers, held at a time and place that a lot of fans would not be able to make, including myself due to work; in order to to voice an opinion - is plain ridiculous.

Does it make me a keyboard warrior?

I am one of thousands of people who pay for season tickets every season, attend all the games my other commitments allow, and as a long term paying punter why can I not voice dissatisfaction - and satisfaction, it isn’t always negative - as and when I feel it appropriate?

Do supporters who can’t even get to games who watch online/on tv not have a right to a view either?

The OP is a fan rep. So represent the fans and voice the various different views we have. That’s your role. We can’t all get to Oakwell at 6pm on a Wednesday night - and for those who could, there were what, 200 tickets available?

Genuinely not sure why this post has got people in a tizzy. I’m not offended cos i know i’m none of the things you listed at the start.

It’s like if i started a thread saying “attention all racists” and people replied being offended at being called racist. I’d posit it would be because they know they’re being addressed…

Camp thread. Camp initial post, camp responses, camp offence taken, camp apology, camp reaction to the apology, camp reaction to the camp reaction.

Please also mentally read this post in a camp internal monologue.

As an aside, and not really wishing to extend a thread in its death throes (although that's what Im doing) I dont think there's been any 'pile on' at all here. People have expressed opinions as to why the OP was wrong to call people out. ND has apologised, which I think is a good thing, but the point that only DWLC has really made is that ND is effectively in a position of authority /power right now and must act appropriately. Yes, ND is not head of a sovereign state - its only the FAB - but with any position comes responsibility. So, the folk who say 'he's not done owt wrong ' I would say are wrong.
Sorry for being a bore but I just didn't think there was a 'pile on'. I'm sure ND will do us all proud, and if he/she can raise the prospect of me getting a director's box for life she/he is obviously a sensible grounded individual.
