I can't recall there being such mixed feelings when Sven or Capello were hired? Although, I'm happy to be proven wrong. I'd love for the National Team to have an English manager, but the sad fact is that there's nobody of the calibre required. Frankly, I couldn't care less where he's from so long as he inspires the team to play attractive, positive football.
I saw something earlier today regarding why there aren't many British Coaches coming through and a lot of it was down to cost. In Germany for example, the cost of the UEFA A License was about 500 quid - whereas here it's closer to 10k. In fact, the D License (which is essentially Sunday League Level stuff) costs more than 500 quid.
The 18 month Contract is a bit suspicious, if you ask me. I reckon that he's just keeping he seat warm. The plan is that the FA have given Pep the chance to announce that next season will be his last at City and walk straight into the England job unless the unthinkable happens and we win the next World Cup with Tuchel in charge then they've got a problem.
I find this blokes analysis very good....and it helped me anyway with an insight into how he likes to set up.
Thanks... the same bloke on 4 4 2 does very good appraisals of all the England and big games (after the games).
