Our Head Coach sat down with the media on Thursday morning to discuss the Reds' trip to Blackpool this Saturday in Sky Bet League One. Barnsley return to action following the postponement of the clash against Reading due to international call-ups last weekend and travel to the Fylde coast to face the Tangerines. Recently appointed Steve Bruce has enjoyed a good start to life at Bloomfield Road, losing just once from his opening six games. Their fixture set for last weekend also fell victim to the international break, a trip to the Memorial Stadium to face Bristol Rovers. Darrell Clarke's press conference is available to view below. Blackpool have made a great start under Bruce so it would be a tough game even if we were in form. Please though, for the love of God, let Clarke and the players have identified and worked on the many problems we've had in recent games. And send them out to win the game, not bore everyone to death before gifting the opposition a goal.
Settled team, settled tactics, settled formation and a lack of faffing about with changes from now on. He's had enough time to develop a philosophy by now, even if he doesn't think he's got a strong squad.
I think he's feeling the pressure a bit in that interview. Watched it on Ifollow and he mentions about 10 times that he's only been working with the squad for 9 weeks and things take time to gel.
Spoke to someone today whos been brought in to improve fitness levels doing sessions... Limited what I'm willing to say, not wanting to expose anyone.. Devaney does most of the coaching. Clarke is always in his office and doesn't attend training much. Clarke out of his depth. Players fitness levels are poor along with attitudes of some. Now I know this it seems obvious Clarke talks like a politician. Look at his body language. Im gutted to be honest. He also thinks Clarkes days are numbered.
Interesting....they certainly look ponderous on the ball....need more pace and application all over imho.
Seems quite dour at times, doesn't want to talk about this that the other, I still back him but it's getting harder as the games go by.
Lovely day in Blackpool. Decent dry and warm weather. Hope tomorrow is better still. Yet to see us win there despite going as much as any other away ground. After Schopp and Collins let's hope Clarke isn't another head coach to get verbal abuse at full time there.
Depending how many people have been brought in to improve fitness I'd say you might well have exposed the person.
I was really impressed with what he said when he took over but he is starting to look like he can't back it up with performances, the people above him certainly haven't helped though, why do we always get bullshitted to all summer long ?
It regularly used to be a good fixture for us, away at the Lashers. But they are looking solid now and more confident under Bruce. And if we're not careful, it could be like last season again, but without us pulling two consolation goals back this time!.
It is true though to be fair, I know he needs to improve, but we used to give managers 2, 3+ tranfer windows before making judgments. Now it's in single digit numbers before people want him gone
