It’s a bit ponderous for my liking but it is better in terms of setup - we don’t need both of Connell and Craig; and Gent gives us the balance on the left. Bit quicker movement and better decisions on the ball are needed - but this is better than previous home performances. And Gent is a baller. Need to keep him fit.
Would still prefer Cotter on that right hand side, that would be two good attacking threats down either side.
Took the foot off of the gas after we scored, hopefully we don’t sit back second half because we were well on top for most of that half.
Fairly happy with that tbh We look the better side, and compared to previous home games it's a lot better. Couple of decent meaningful efforts means we've actually also tested a keeper that we have failed miserably quite a lot this season. Happy to have more of the same if it keeps a clean sheet and 3 points...
Gent a young kid, bags to learn and will make mistakes but when he’s on the front foot, impressive. Having said that we’re far better as a whole team imo when we’re on the front foot. When we start to ‘manage the game’ we fall apart because, well, we can’t manage games for any length of time - certainly not a whole half.
No more than Corey O’ComeInside… No idea why he’s preferred to cotter as he’s not exactly a great defender and offers less than Cotter going forward - but if that’s the concession made to not play both Craig and Connell to get in eachother’s way then I accept that. I’d just throw Baz at everyone though. Turn them round and give them more to worry about.
Better than last few games but so little activity around opponents box. Take away a shocking piece of goalkeeping and it’s been a very even game with not much to talk about. Gent done some good things with a few poor things. The midfield just doesn’t look right. Id say he’d take Yoganathan off fairly soonish as he’s been pretty anonymous, though I’d keep him on with so few midfield options on the bench (the irony!). Hopefully we can keep a much needed clean sheet and despite it being pretty tepid fayre, a win at home might build a bit more confidence and gradually improve us. Much better but still not that good would be my half time assessment.
Not a bad half in comparison to what we've seen at Oakwell this season. At times they've looked a bit pedestrian and reluctant to attack but when they have they've caused problems. And why not; both keepers look very nervous. Gent has been a breath of fresh air. Russell has been strong in midfield. Connell has been Connell. Vimal has struggled but he can grow into this I'm sure. Let's not sit back and defend this lead. I know at some point we're going to get Craig but it doesn't have to be so defensive.
Imho...I kind of enjoyed that! We look sharp and again the press is good. Charlton look neat, tidy and aggressive (in a good way) and wouldn't be surprised if this ends up a draw. That said ...I've seen more improvement in that 45 than at Blackpool. So hope we continue with this....small improvements each game is the way forward for me....same again please. Shout outs so far for Gent, Roberts Mdg and Earl... well played. Humphries has the beating on their left side lads too. Coyr...you can do this!
