I’m a massive fan of his but that was one of the worse substitute performances I’ve ever seen in my life. Clumsy, really poor defensively and looked lethargic.
if only we had an experienced midfielder to bring on in the second half of games … someone like Conor Hourihane … oh hang on a minute!
Looked like he did get a decent assist…..for their first goal? Looked like it from my seat in the Ponty anyway. Not sure what he was trying to do.
good job we haven't still got the purple kit, he'd look even more like an Oompa Loompa, he's certainly no stranger to the pie shop!!
I’m not sure on him yet. I suppose he’s still very young so will have his good games and his poor ones. I think he’s had more poor games than good for us so far though.
Whilst I agree he was poor tonight I’m more confused as to how anyone’s a massive fan of his. Other than Bristol Rovers I don’t think I’ve been impressed by him & I’d much rather have Connell with Hourihane as his back up for that position with the money spent on an actual like for like Kane replacement or another left back or even a winger. Basically a player that we actually need.
We really didn't need him. I'm still confused as to why he was brought in. When Benson (stop it), Kelechi and Phillips are fit, he's behind them all for me. Big credit to Darrell for playing Russell where he can thrive, and Luca back in the holding role.. Was something I always wanted last year, big Jon in a more attacking position. Just because he's a tall lad, he's ended up as a defensive midfielder. He isn't a defensive midfielder. He's far too talented. Let him play. And so yeah, hats off to Darrell. On another night, Jon has at least one goal. I'm seeing positive signs since the break. Sadly, we've another f****r in a couple of weeks.
He’ll probably make it to be a decent player but there’s no point him being here. We have other players of his ilk in the squad, him playing reduced the effectiveness of the club captain - we’ve looked a lot better with Craig not playing and Luca further back. He doesn’t get in the first eleven and when everyone is fit and available he shouldn’t make the match day squad either to be honest. If we can drop one premier league loanee for the greater good, surely we can do it for the other?
I understand you've been round these lads and know them personally but Benson simply can't be relied upon and that's not been wise after the event it's just how his BFC career has been. The Russell one I agree he's more suited to his current role but he's the most immobile pro footballer I've seen maybe with run of games this may improve but I'm not convinced it will. The balance of the team looks much better post the break let's hope we continue to improve and we stop finding different ways to concide soft goals.
