Missed our equaliser as I left in disgust at their second as the warnings were there but went unheeded. First time I’ve done this but I was sickened and unusually angry. I’m sick of seeing panic-stricken defenders and error-ridden play when under pressure at the back. There’s no calming influence on the pitch. As soon as we have a set-back it’s the domino effect. 1goal was never going to be enough tonight even against a poor side like Charlton. We were unlucky with the 2 Russel efforts and it looked a stonewaller for the penalty, but instead of that inspiring us on further, we allowed them to push us back until the inevitable happened x2. They weren’t very good at all, yet every attack seemed to cause us problems without looking remotely like scoring. Even with our late equaliser, it is still yet another 2 home points dropped
It does kinda feel inevitable that the opposition will score the longer the game goes on at Oakwell we just haven’t got enough about us to put teams to bed.
That is what you will get with low calibre players under pressure because the strikers/midfielders aren't doing their bit.
Annoys the hell out of me seeing FOUR coaches standing in the dugout including CH. He’d be a lot more use out on the pitch surely?
Mystery isn’t it. I’d rather have seen him going on today instead of Craig. Experience is what we need out there, all over the pitch
I don't get this clamour for Hourihane he's had his time and come in as a coach primarily and wants to focus on that.
It’s simple really, a match-fit Hourihane would be invaluable to us with his experience, know-how etc. He would have a calming influence when needed.
Clarke hanging on , still no idea what he was trying to do today , Blackpool looked like he had decided on a formation and way of playing , tonight who knows
Did you see his performance when he last came on at Oakwell? He stank the place out. It’s alright being dewy eyed but despite him not being that old I think he’s a busted flush as a player. Looked like the legs had gone. Signed for sentimentality - needs to step up as a coach and contribute something if he wants to stay. Maybe he’ll play later in the season and prove me wrong. I hope so as a fit and firing Hourihane - even not quite the same one we remember - would be a fine thing.
I’m not dewy eyed at all about him, he is obviously not match-fit. That’s why I said a ‘ match-fit’ Hourihane would be invaluable. Any player who isn’t match fit looks like their ‘ legs have gone’ irrespective of age. ‘ Stank the place out’ WTF is that as an expression about a player?..
