Stephen Humphries……..a think this lad is starting to look à good player, he’s got some great skill and pace for a big guy, my dad commented last light saying he never seems to get fouled but a think that’s done to his size and strength…….. Id like to see him and Watters and DKD have a run together
Another positive, they’ve replaced the broken TV screen above Gangway 4 ESL, and yes it was switched on. @SuperTyke will be delighted I’m sure
I think he’s looked good since he came in tbh. But now he’s getting his match fitness, he looks a real handful. He’s quick, strong, got a good strike on him and has some skill to beat a defender. I agree about him and Watters up top with DKD just behind. Cosgrove and Jalo as impact players.
I thought we looked decent upfront last night the partnership between DKD and Humphreys is getting better with more game time, pleased DKD added another and Humphreys creates lots DKD missed a relatively easy header beautifully teed up by Humphreys and pleased for Watters that's all you can ask of your subs is to have an impact and keep the 2 who are starting on their toes. Gent looks to be growing week on week with game time, Slonina and Craig for me are poor I'd be tempted to send them back and give Yoganathan more minutes and ffs sign a keeper
When you look at it like that we do have 5 good options up top, it’s them behind that’s ******* the job up
There's more than one piece of positivity. Collectively we looked like we had more structure, so the coaching time of two weeks has allowed some form of reset. Humphreys, Gent, and to a lesser extent Dunn looked a lot better and brighter and created moments of positive play. Earl looked more solid. Roberts was generally solid again. Watters did very well for his brief appearance. Again, we showed excellent character to come back deep in stoppage time. So they are positives to bank. The next step is limiting the negatives which I think is going to be a lot more difficult to do.
Only took them three games to put it up after taking down the old one that's been broke since last Christmas Humphries can be our new Norwood. Someone who works hard for the team and makes the life of others easier. Now we've Watters back we can play those two up front and FINALLY put DKD in the middle of them CENTRALLY further back where he played for Mansfield. No more DKD in a front two or out wide....
We were good last night we were the width of the crossbar ,great clearance off the line,a missed sitter ( dkd header) keeper howler from winning that game quite comfortably. I was as disappointed as everyone last night but they showed great character to comeback from them two body blows and I know we shared the points with Charlton but we were miles better than them they got lucky it happens.
The biggest improvement I saw was in Gent, looks fit now and way more confident, could be a great player for us.
One other bit of positivity that might be overlooked. In terms of performance, it's been a poor first quarter of the season. Despite that we're in the mix, and aside from Birmingham, it looks a much of a muchness and perhaps not as strong a league as we initially feared. If we can keep this learning curve going, eliminate the amateur errors, build a bit of confidence and come January have a good window, there's no reason we can't significantly improve on the first half of the season.
Really ,I thought we had no structure compared to the Blackpool game , too often players stood like statues no movement off the ball relying on individual skill (Humphries) to create a chance
I’m always glass half full with us so maybe that came across too much! I do think we have a good group of strikers that all offer something different. Whether they will score sufficient goals for us is another question I suppose. But to be fair, we have goals all over the team. Clearly it’s further back where our problems are. We simply can’t defend. Even when we do somehow look decent as a defensive unit, we often then decide to gift the opposition absolute freebies. Last night should’ve been comfortable and I reckon if Russell’s effort that came off the bar went in, or his one off the line or even DKD’s free header, we’d have strolled to 3 points. None of them went in and we decided to gift Charlton.
I disagree. The league is starting to take shape. The top four are pulling away. We'd have to win a couple and them lose a couple just to catch up. It's already looking like a play offs at best season.
We're only 5 points behind Wrexham and we've been woeful. We've got 34 games left. Of the teams we've played we've looked second best in many of those games... And we're still only out of the playoffs on goal difference. That doesn't suggest its a strong league at this stage despite a good number of teams used to playing at much higher levels. Wigan and Rotherham are still capable of closing the gap, so we very much are if we can build on the points we've somehow managed to acquire.
There's 30 odd game's left so there's lots of drop ins and out of the race for autos and playoff's to go. Any team in and around the 'zone' will strike a claim by winning 3 or 4 on the trot.
