I've not watched all the way through, but the thing that has stood out with several of these keeper montages is how the ball is saved but often parried right back into the danger zone.

Every shot is a parry, can he catch? More fly paper needed

In honesty I'd not be that bothered about this lad either. There are much better keepers who aren't from big clubs in fact, I'd go so far as to say, big clubs generally bring through keepers who aren't particularly suited to EFL football

They spent 15 million including add ons for him so surely he can't be that bad for league 1??

They are taught to parry by the coaches as it’s felt less risky than trying to catch and spill.
Of course the secret is to parry to safety

Standard of modern goalkeepers is shocking in my humble opinion.
Another thing to thank Pep for.

Thought I'd bring this thread back. Mentioned before we signed him from his youtube montage that he doesn't catch stuff. So the signs were there for our recruitment team, maybe we got a bit starstruck and focused on how much Chelsea shelled out on him.

There were probably better experienced options available in August.

Just to add balance, he is a young lad and goalkeepers tend to get better as they mature. Some of the name calling on here is a bit out of order. By all mean question his current standing/attributes but surely we can do it without the insults towards him.

    Totally agree.

I think our long term keeper is with Jackson Smith. But the club thought it was a season early for him. Similar scenario to Brad Collins in my eyes. Jackson will have been watched for a year or two - he won’t have been just plucked out of thin air.

Therefore you can only sign a loan keeper, as no one else will come knowing it’s a season only.

So you limit yourself straight away to youth really - anyone more established will be desperate to nail a longer contract.

I think he’s a decent keeper, just developing. But his handling/catching is his weakness. Possibly from his early days - as watching the MLS etc shows a lot of keepers punching stuff.

He will improve - just needs us to support him from the stands.

Anyone who’s watched Welcome to Wrexham will see how it works (Christian Dibble) - once in the right head space and fans backing him, he did well.

In the 1960s & 70s We had the best keepers in the world. Now the best are foreign.

To be honest I've not seen many insults. I am massively frustrated with him though, because having a competent keeper should be no problem for a League One club.

Supporting him is very difficult though in the present circumstances don't you think? I hope he goes on to have a long and successful career, but watching us toss points away by him not being able to do the basics is something I honestly wish we didn't have to endure.
