Oakwell

Oakwell, home of football club Barnsley FC is having some work done, which has uncovered some old brickwork.

That just a mash up of old photos ? The East stand turnstile wall is the current one was never Red

 

I think those gates are on the east end of the Ponty (ie facing the main car park and Pontefract Rd) and date back to the old Brewery Stand days - ie in no way part of the East Stand but simply a way into it.

 

I reckon that's part ofthe old ponty end wall that used to join onto the wall that ran round the back of brewery stand..........sithi.

 

A brick skin in front of original wall, obviously, been taken down to a level to probably put wall ties in to join to old wall
