He should be out on loan for me, maybe to a L2 side. I just don’t see him getting much game time so i reckon that would be the best option come January. That’s if there are any takers obviously.
That’s the bit I don’t get with him, can’t remember who it was, either Devaney or Bobby but they said he needs 20 mins to settle into a game, given they know him so well, how does giving him odd minutes here and there develop him?
Remember that. It was Bobby I think. Its difficult. Who do you drop to give him a start? Maybe a loan is the way forward?
The thing with that though, is that you can't carry someone who needs 20 minutes to get up to speed. I still think he looks a tad overweight, but hopefully he comes good. Maybe a loan move to Portugal would be beneficial? He's certainly talented.
Top and botton is 10 minutes is no good to anyone needs games to develop. Cosgroves played 700 league minutes scoring 1 goal
He couldn't have contributed less than Sam Cosgrove has this season yet we've given start after start to him. As a club that supposedly aims to buy young and sell for a profit we seem to do an awful job of it with young players at times and exclude them from the squad to make room for players who clearly have little resale value or are here on loan.
My argument is that he shouldn't need 20 minutes. He's a professional footballer. He should be ready.
Wasn't that something hassell said? I wouldn't read too much into it, if that was the case Collins qnd Clarke wouldn't have kept giving him 10 minutes here and there. Infact the only start he's had is against some of the best defenders in the country in the cup. Like I and many other have said either give him a run of games or a league 2 loan.
How long does the outstanding young talent tag last for exactly without showing much to show for it? He’s been given plenty of chances to make an impact in games and genuine talent would have forced starts by now. He’s clearly not ready. He needs to move on loan for his own benefit as whilst just used in fits and starts he’s not going to develop or become a proper player here and I don’t think we can afford him starts for him to develop on the job whilst actually aim to becoming a promotion contender.
If they know he needs more than 20 mins then I don’t get the point of putting him on, you would think if they don’t believe he deserves a starting place then a loan would be best for his development.
Clarke might disagree with Bobby though or he might think he shouldn't need 20 minutes and they're working on it. Only 1 way to find out, mate!
I think he does need a loan out and a regular run of games but where does that leave aiden Marsh? Must be well down the pecking order? Loans spells with little football and often not in the squad while here. If he wasn't a barnsley fan would he still be here. Got to be cruel to be kind sometimes I suppose.
I couldn’t disagree more on this. So far he’s been brought on with around 10-15 mins to go when we are either chasing a game or defending deep to hang on. Not only is the time and number of games no where near enough yet, but he comes on with next to no chance of showing what he can do. He might not make it, only time will tell, but he has to be given time and opportunity to show it. He’s had very little of that yet. Now compare his opportunity so far to Watters and Cosgrove. One is showing signs now of doing a job. Cosgrove still looks like a carthorse 90% of the time.
