Have I got this wrong, a cap is the maximum increase, it doesn’t have to be that. Could be 50p perhaps???

That’s ok if you go out in a group and can share the cost. If you’re on you’re own and going to work for eg, it would currently cost me about 3x more for a taxi than to get the bus to Tarn, and I only live in Stairfoot about 1 and half to 2 miles away.

costs about £2k a year to run a car excluding petrol. Lets add £500 for petrol to get to work and back. £2.5k a year, £48 a week.

This indeed. Labour should start every communication with "Because the Tory Party has f*cked the country over for the last 14 years, we are going to..."

I think they largely do... Though it likely doesn't get printed or the microphones mysteriously get faded ;-)

I think its extraordinary the amount if scrutiny Labour are getting in comparison to what the tories had when in power. I even heard the extraordinary claim by a sky presenter claiming DePfeffel Johnson had been honest with his declarations when discussing Starmers expenses. And Sky are nowhere near the most partisan... Though they are certainly pitched right of centre and seemingly getting more strident in articulating that stance through label selections and story focus, particularly on US stories, of which the frequency has surged recently.

    No.

The PM said working people wouldn't be affected by decisions they make, yet working people catch a bus so will be affected by paying 50% more than they currently do.

If you live close enough some places will be cheaper to hire an uber.

Over £1 billion to boost bus services across the country as bus fares capped at £3 - GOV.UK

Maybe helpful to share the full story rather than just paint it as a "tax rise" which it clearly isn't.

You can disagree with decisions without being a Tory.

I haven't once called it a tax rise.

Not explicitly, but you're criticising the government and the state of the bus network, while they are pledging to invest over £1bn in it. You can't have it all ways can you? If they invest, the money, it has to come from somewhere.

I wonder what the tories would have done given their love of untrammelled market forces.

Didn't he say they wouldn't increase taxes on working people?

Will pays £8 a day on the occasions he drives in for city centre parking but otherwise walks or gets the bus. He used to get the train but they’re always delayed, cancelled or absolutely rammed and not letting on. There’s £5 a day parking to be had just outside the centre.

That's interesting - much cheaper than I find near Wellington Place.

I'm lucky getting those trains at Horsforth, often wonder how long people are stood at Headingley or Burley Park waiting for a train they can squeeze onto.....

Burley Park is our station, great for coming home but it can be 3 trains before you can get on one to go into the city.

Woodhouse Lane multistory is £8.50 (just gone up 50p) but a bit of a walk to Wellington Place.

There’s enough money in our economy l , we’re not a bankrupt nation when you can conjure up £22 billion for a discredited carbon capture scheme , billions in arms to Ukraine, £8 billion on restoring the Houses of Parliament .

They have made the decision to cap fares ar £3.

If they had not made the decision, fares would be have been completely uncapped after December, which I suspect would therefore have been even higher for longer journeys.
