Gideon once tried the gimmick of a penny off a pint. It lasted about 1 week. Pubs put up prices in 10p units nowadays. The penny will probably go into the pockets of the brewers.
Well at least it hasn’t gone up and by knocking a penny off, it will take some explaining/justifying if they increase it anytime soon.
Tbf the 1p is off draught beer duty to help pubs and domestic brewers rather than supermarkets selling imported beers...a chunk of the duty saving will probably help to offset the rise in employer NI contributions.

A pint will go up because they will have to cover the increase in minimum wage and reduction of business rate relief. The 1p off a pint is just a diversion tactic.
Labour should be supporting public transport so not happy about that. But, the trains are supposedly coming back to public ownership when the contracts run down so we'll have to wait and see I suppose.
The problem with the trains - and buses - is that they are viewed by the media and most politicians as a business, so have to be profitable. When they are, in fact, an essential service and should dealt with as such.
The Government choose to give a bung to car drivers not the trains. It’s that straightforward. Your hatred for train drivers is funny as **** though.

You do realise aswell like said yesterday in any business when staff wages go up the product has to go up.
