Great news for Retired Miners , it's taken far too long but the government has finally said it's giving back the investment reserve fund worth 1.6 billion pounds giving members who are still with us a 32% rise which should be paid from November. 112.000 thousand members still in the scheme but sadly thousands have passed without getting the money they were entitled to, the bumbling fool called Boris he was going to do this in 2019, well done the campaigners and Ed Miliband for jumping straight on this .
Excellent news. Sadly my dad was tricked into moving his pension out of the scheme. We have no way of knowing if what he changed to performed better or not and it’s too late to switch back now so it is what it is.
Sorry to hear your dad was tricked to moving his a lot of miners did I believe. Luckily I left mine in the scheme mainly because after the strike the union and management would argue on anything and everything but the one thing they did agree on was we wouldn't get a better deal or scheme than the MPS .
I was advised by a snake who lived in old town Won't name him on here. I had an independent review on this, and was awarded 11 k , which I lost by transferring and the company also had to put this fund back into my MPS. I am ultimately grateful for this independent review.
Just goes to show what can can be achieved if you’re willing to fight for something and look beyond short-termism. It’s hardly been plain- sailing for the MPS and it’s members
The biggest robbers of our pension scheme were the Tory government they weren't satisfied with kicking us out of a job they wanted our pension money as well.
Can't say I'm impressed with the new government so far but no doubt this is the one good thing they have done...oh and the blood scandal and the post office schemes. The lads who cut coal worked hard and deserved all the money, should pass to families too (don't know if it will). If anyone is out there who transferred their pension as someone as said already, chances are you were mis-sold and the new provider is liable as their agent did the mis-selling
We tried that route but they claimed they had sent a letter inviting a review (they 100% didn’t, my dad has a drawer full of every letter he’s ever been sent about anything!) and as ‘he ignored it’ nothing can be done.
Don't ask the pension provider. They have a vested interest in lying to you. Get some independent advice. Can someone who did this assist jamdrop with who they used to get a good result.? Tia.
This was through a solicitor. They contacted the provider who said that and the solicitor said no more could be done.
They sent me a letter asking me if I would take a lump sum of my pension and then I would not be I the mps after that so I took it like a doilum because what I said you don't know whats around the corner and it was better in my pocket than in theirs.
I have been drawing off mine when I reached 50. For the reasons you said.So I have had a good 14 years drawing off it. Not enough to retire on but helps pay the bills. I am not expecting huge increases but as they say ,every little helps.
