So we are down to play Cambridge in 2 weeks - during yet another international break - how many is that now this season it seems we have at least 1 a month Tickets not yet on sale - any idea when a decision is made - I cant see Cambridge having 3 internationals we dont really have 3 either only Russell if he is called up is a likely starter must need to decide soon if we want to have time to sell tickets by post
Like the Bristol Rovers game this shouldn’t be called off. Losing Russell for 1 game isn’t going to be a travesty.
Both sides expected to have 3 called up. Cambridge did at the last international break and we will have Vimal, Fabio and Russell will probably get recalled due to his recent form. Maybe Slonina too. I would be amazed if it went ahead.
Another international break. Tuesday night away at Cambridge is not that bad for me, but for those travelling from barnsley, that's a fair old journey on a Tuesday night
I will be absolutely gutted if its off. My mate lives in Cambridge and we've been looking forward to the day down there, few beers in a nice city then the game, then out after. If its a Tuesday night again because a few reserve team players are missing from both sides we may as well chalk **** on it, no point in trying to plan ahead/look forward to any games anymore because of the likelihood they'll be moved.
It’s plain stupid. Sky doing their best to kill football at lower level with their ridiculous scheduling but clubs aren’t helping themselves by exploiting this 3 international player rule to call games off. All these midweek games are killing gates. We’d likely have taken around 1000 on a Saturday but now likely to be 500 maximum for a night game. Modern football eh…..
FFS. I hadn't realised it was an international break. I've spent £200 on hotels and £160 on trains for 5 of us. Ace.
No thought in all this goes on the fans I’m afraid. It’s a right s**t show. Fact that there still aren’t any ticket sale details out says it all I reckon. Looks sure to be postponed now. It’s a farce….
All clubs should asterisk these games & put ‘subject change due to international break’. We shouldn’t be having scenarios like the above. Clubs should make it as clear as possible, not fans having to Google when international breaks are & match it up against our fixture list. This isn’t a dig against just us, I believe it’s an issue with pretty much all lower league clubs.
I'd go further. No clubs at any level get an international break. Every club has a 20+ man squad and they should just rotate players and get on with it. If they know that players could get international calls during the breaks they should recruit some other players who are less likely to. Worst case, and they have 5+ players called up, then they can use an emergency promotion to bring in U-21s players to their league squad for the affected game only.
Clubs should sign players who won't be good enough to represent their country? You any good at football mate? Yes Well you're no use, what about you pal? I'm crap. Excellent, fancy playing for us at centre half?
Squads are big enough to cope with international calls ups. There should be no football league games called of for this reason.
Ruling needs changing at 3rd and 4th tier levels due to gate receipts being much more important to clubs at these levels. It's absolutely pathetic.
The clubs in tiers 3 and 4 need to tell the EFL to have international breaks when the fixtures are raised. Extend the season. None of this waiting till squads are announced. Barely a handful at times get played in tier 3 not many more in tier 4. As for making em play the squad players. Some clubs may have more than the 3 stipulated. As I wrote on another site. Unfair to clubs. Loss of revenue. Late notification of players called up. Unfair to fans. (Less than 2 weeks notice) Unfair to coach companies on standby. (Less than 2 weeks notice.) It's not as though the EFL don't know it's an issue. Pardon my french it'd be a fekkin joke if it was.funny.
