A pair of Barnsley legends will be in attendance at Oakwell when the Reds welcome Rotherham United on Friday evening at Oakwell. Darrell Clarke's men welcome the Millers in a 7:15pm kick-off in front of the Sky cameras, looking to make it five games unbeaten across Sky Bet League One and the Emirates FA Cup on Friday evening. To join us for the occasion will be two former players who made almost 500 combined appearances with the Reds, Luke Steele and Stephen Foster! Steele, who represented the Club between 2008 and 2014, initally signed on an emergency loan before making his stay at Oakwell permanent. The 'keeper made 227 appearances with the Club, including the famous FA Cup run of 2008, defeating Liverpool and Chelsea on the way to a Wembley meeting with Cardiff City in the semi-finals. His debut came in the victory at Anfield, pulling off an heroic performance to slay the Premier League side. Steele now co-manages National League North side, Peterborough Sports. In front of Steele often for the Reds was centre-back, Foster, who also made an indelible impact at Oakwell. Racking up 244 appearances between 2007 and 2013, the Warrington-born defender was also part of the Reds' famous FA Cup run, scoring in the third round tie against Blackpool and also at Anfield, heading home current Assistant Head Coach Martin Devaney's cross to level the scoring. Both former players will partake in a Q&A session in our hospitality areas at Oakwell, including Rimmington's Lounge which has a small number of seats available. The rest of our corporate areas are at capacity for Friday night's fixture. To book your place in Rimmington's Lounge for this match, contact our commercial team on commercial@barnsleyfc.co.uk. Both quality players for us and great servants. When I got talking to Foster b4 a wigan game away int pub (think it was when we beat em to make playoffs under Hecky) . It was great to see his lad was being brought up as a tarn fan. Even though living warrington way. Both were outstanding when we beat liverpool int cup. Steele performed heroics one of the best performances in goal I've ever seen. And Fozzies goal.
I was talking to him also that day . Told him I was bitter about him signing for Burnley instead of us. Felt bad when he explained it was to be closer to his dad . Top bloke ,good to have him back in recognition of his efforts .
Good to see them their the other night. Since we've sent Bland and McCann to Peterborough Sports they have won both games. However yesterday Bland was on the bench again and McCann was sent off.
