The commentators said that when Evans went in for the lad playing a friendly against them for Stamford he was asked what fee he paid. Evans said the price of a Chinese takeaway. Chortle chortle. What a wag :)

Too long ago for most on the Ponty End to remember that being sung at Mark McGhee.

Hadn't heard that. Thank you for the explanation.

Evans is an arse. He's actually a decent manager but he can be a real arse.

    We were brilliant.

    Man for man, absolutely brilliant.

And well done Clarke, you deserve all the plaudits as well.

Just listened to his long post match interview on RS and he said they were the best side for the first 20 minutes and that if his young sub had scored it would have been a different game. Failed to mention our two disallowed goals, our hitting the woodwork and missing a bag full of chances. Close game apparently!

Adie Moses pointed out on radio sheffield that he didn't mention KDs chances!

He's right in a way that it was 1-0 when they missed a good chance that could have totally changed the atmosphere and to be fair he did say that we deserved to win overall.

We looked brilliant. Could have been 4 or 5 if DKD had his shooting boots on.

Bizarre performance by the away side. I don’t understand how Evans set them up at all. Why did they allow Earl so much space? Ever since we got a hiding against Lincoln sides have stopped him playing out. Their only tactic seemed to be Hugill trying to bully De Gevigney but it didn’t get them very far. Malik Wilks must be some player these days if he’s the missing piece of the jigsaw.

It seemed like suicide from them to allow our technical footballers time on the ball. To say it was only 1-0 for such a long period I didn’t have many nerves. I can’t decide whether we were brilliant or they were terrible & the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

For me, that was probably our best home league performance of the season so far. No one had a bad game and everyone made a positive contribution. In all honesty, I thought 2-0 flattered Rotherham. If I had to pick a MOTM it'd be Marc Roberts.

It's nice to read a matchday thread where pretty much everyone is of a similar view. That's the happiest I've been coming away from Oakwell since we beat Wednesday under Duff, we were really, really good.

Because it's kinda grown over the last few weeks, it feels like it might be a sustainable thing too, and that we're capable of going on a run. Suddenly it looks like we have a few options.

Congratulations and keep it up DC.

Great to see us defend so solid tonight, we put our foot through the ball when needed and got the yards up the pitch without fannying on but so many times we found a red shirt and could have countered them very quickly but for the odd final bit.

Why is the ref to blame for the Rememberance **** up.
Announcer stated that the RBL would read the poem, followed by the bugler playing the last post and then a minutes silence on the refs whistles. Seems to me several got it wrong. The bugler went first, then the ref blew and then the Ponty for some unknown reason clapped. Then the poem. Forces reps left the field and then someone called for the silence. I think they also cocked it up last year.

Hey guys, it's always good to win a South Yorkie derby game innit (even though I'm from the West of course lol).
I thought Rotherham would have been harder and tougher tonight, regardless of what the result was.
But they were poor weren't they, and to be honest we can only beat who/what is there!.
I think they want the fat Scotch man Evans out, and I've no sympathy for him if he does get the big boot!.
But hey, we move on, and we're now 4 points behind the top two (after tonight). :)

I recorded it on Sky just to watch back interviews, highlights at the end both halves, the goals and punditry.

Sam Parkin was very complimentary about us and said hopefully Barnsley push on.

That’s exactly what the announcer said, and then as he handed the microphone to the chap to read the poem the referee blew his whistle to start the minute’s silence. You could hear the chap with the microphone saying something like “No, he’s not supposed to blow yet”. The bugler knew that the minute’s silence was supposed to be after he played his piece, so he jumped in straight away to stop the minute’s silence and started playing. After he finished, and the fans applauded, the ref signalled that the players were to change ends and the players lined up to start the game. At this point the ref was signalled over to the dugout area to be told of his **** up, hence we had the unusual sight of the ref off the pitch and the players lined up ready to kick off the game when we had the minute’s silence. What’s more, we then had the silence whilst the servicemen were marching around the pitch.

It all fell apart because the ref blew the whistle too early. Ergo, his fault.
