Come in for a lot of stick over his time with us, but when he’s been called upon this season he’s been excellent. fantastic save that kept us in it at 1 nil, and finished off with an assist. Seems a thoroughly good bloke too.
Agreed. He might not be as flashy as some keepers (by this I mean pulling off incredible diving saves) but he’s, so far, been dependable and much more consistent than other recent keepers. Steve Evans’ comments last night saying he didn’t know much about the save is laughable. I think I’d suggest he rewatches it a few times as it was a brilliant and very much intentional save from Ben.
Killip done very well but I don't think he's suddenly turned into a top league 1 keeper. Nothing we can do about it until January if the powers that be as it seems think Solena isn't up to it decisive action is needed then. He was signed as a out and out no2 come in for the odd game or cup games but for him to play 30 odd games may well bite us on the bum.
Much like their keepers save from DKD’s header I thought the ball was hit at him. He did well to sort his legs out to clear though.
Again difficult to judge based on playing a team bottom of the league, a league 2 side and a team massively out of form. His tests are ahead of him
Nah, sorry, he’s not been tested properly yet. He’s an average keeper imo who’s developing a bit more now. But can’t say for sure if he’ll hold that no.1 spot for the full season yet. Hope he does tbf. I suspect Slonina will be recalled by Chelsea - he’s injured until Xmas and if he’s not in favour, they’ll send him back out to Belgium or similar. This will then leave Killip and Smith to battle it out. The club have been clear, that Smith is the future #1.
Looking at our form since Killip has been in the nets, it's his shirt to lose. Agreed Rotherham didn't pose much of a threat, but he made a good save when needed. I'd be happy for Slonina to go back to Chelsea TBH. He is a decent shot stopper & has earned us points versus less aerially minded teams. His weaknesses are easy to expose though for opposing managers with physical players in the box. For me it was a poor loan deal.
