Per episode…. Did you just say per episode is value for money? When it’s said like that, it just shows how obscene it is.
It’s a common dig at the BBC. That they pay wages in a competitive private market but only they have to publish them. You could argue that’s anti competitive in itself as other companies can see what the BBCs highest earners are and outbid them, then not disclose those amounts. The BBC will always look like they are paying huge amounts while competitors pay much more but have no scrutiny. Given the waste of the last government… including pushing Tory donors and former councillors into BBC management, it doesn’t bother me at all the level of Linekers pay.
I'd love nothing more than for the BBC to replace him with someone inexperienced who is starting out in the business because I've long said that's what the BBC should be. A platform for bringing through talent and bringing out programming that the ad funded competitors won't or can't show for financial reasons. I'd sell off EastEnders and the like which costs £1m a week to produce and which they now have to rent the set of after selling it at a loss this year (if the sale went through, im not sure) and reinvest in new programmes which I'd then attempt to sell off when successful. But that's just me
Mark 'Chappers' is a good and likeable presenter, he would be a good shout. And Jason Mohammed as well who regularly does Saturday Final score (even though he's a Cardiff fan lol), he's another good suggestion.
Nowt, but given a new Head of Sport was only appointed this year, I doubt that position is up for grabs. Not sure you'll see Gary presenting much at all after the World Cup. His production company is making him plenty of money so I think he'll put his time & effort into expanding that.
One things for sure picking a woman who has never played at that level will be cheaper. And if she's woke enough all the better to meet their criteria.
