It is a box ticking exercise though isn’t it? To me, I don’t care who you are or what you are as long as ya nice enough, but of course it’s a box ticking exercise. Most things are these days.
Available recognisable actress tick. If you boil anything down it can be a box ticking exercise i agree with you there (for example job hires with specific qualifications needed etc) but the way it's meant in this regard is most right wing people will view this as a box ticking exercise to satisfy the woke left and keep them happy. I think they are two different situations, the first one i agree happens in every day life due to requirements in scenarios (box ticking exercise for our next striker is he needs to be a good finisher, good on the ball and ready to sign for us) the second one i disagree with a lot.
If she did she had a point. Could have also said the balcony was too royal, too parasitic and too archaic anorl.
Yes you are correct . It was an unnecessary comment by somebody trying to be "clever" . Was it a racist comment ? Imagine the fall out if it had been white on black .
Usual ones who talk about free speech and other people getting easily offended are well ... easily offended it would seem
That's the irony isn't it? People of the ilk of those complaining they want free speech... Unless its about things they disagree with. They aren't racist... Despite repeatedly criticising aspects where non white people are involved. They aren't homophobic, or transphobic, or xenophobic... They just want their country back... And to be sovereign... Whatever that means. You just wait to see which company will be the target of their eye swivelling ire each Christmas (well.... November!).
Hang on. So you don't care who or what someone is right? So you would hire someone regardless of their skin colour. Butttt if someone else hires someone who is a different skin colour then it's a box ticking exercise? How's that work then? I guess if we want to get down to the facts of it father Christmas is based on saint Nicholas, a bloke from the middle east born to black Anatolians and most certainly wasn't white so the idea that his wife might be mixed race isn't exactly a box ticking exercise is it.
I’ve watched it and it’s so right on it’s actually funny. I don’t care tbh, but the only white man in the advert is portrayed as a fat lay about- it’s pretty standard for advertising, they tend to portray men as useless/feckless/stupid, this simply fits that aesthetic- Men can’t function normally. Like I say it doesn’t exercise me because it’s just the way it is now. I’ll give you one great example, off the top of my head- the nationwide advert - Dominic West, as an absolute insufferable pillock, would they portray a women like that? Or a BAME person? Would they balls.
Second paragraph you’re rambling mate, I don’t care that much. Regarding the first, yes it’s a box ticking exercise, like everything is in life. I.e brushing teeth, paying bills, abiding by the law and all the rest of the things from minuscule to massive. On your point about hiring, again I don’t care that much I’m an employee not an employer so stupid point to try and put words into my mouth. But, yes hiring someone of skin colour has to be a box ticking exercise, that’s not me being derogatory just factual, see equality act. They might be the best person for the job, hopefully so but it’s a box ticking exercise for regulatory reasons, everything in life is a box ticking exercise.
I think there is a growing frustration that there are double standards growing in our country. The two tier Kier tag line is an example of this. The balance between how the country works now whether policing, law enforcement, marketing, press etc seems to promote some things while avoiding the equal opposites. Some may say its always been this way but it appears the frustration grows on the equality topic. An example is recent reports that a group of immigrant males are bussed into a hotel in Altrincham and given mobiles, private health insurance. It is reported alongside a man found dead in the streets of Manchester as being homeless. People compare the two and frustration grows. For the Boots ad it seems people are annoyed that someone can make an alleged racist comment on live TV and go on to be the centre piece in a commercial. If you said similar on X the cops would knock on the door. unfortunately middle ground has got lost. You’re either a lefty snowflake or a right wing activist.
By that logic any of the black players employed by BFC or any football club is a box ticking exercise.
I agree, although I posted that imaginary figures have no defined colour I do find the strange casting of black actors to play real historical white figures in our history a little weird.. Recently in gunpowder plot Robert Catesby was played by a black actor yet there are portraits of him and he was certainly white. Also a black actress played Anne Bolyn who again was most certainly white. I would also have the same feeling towards Tom Hanks playing Malcolm X or Robert Downey jr as Martin Luther King, I understand that in the past white actors used blackface rather than employ black or Asian people for those roles which was disgraceful, fortunately we have moved on from those times and lessons have been learned. Sadly the casting of actors of colour to play historical white people is just feeding the double standards narrative.. ( Tin hat on)
For me, everything is one. I guess it’s how we define things, but an example is if you’re hungry then there’s a box there, if you eat you’ve ticked that box.
