Hopefully Cambridge will have tired themselves out. They were first to everything there. I'm clutching at straws.
Don't seem to be winning 2nd ball and our passing and crossing has got hospital ball written all over it..still, when we're poor 1st half wer normally better 2nd half
Impressed with Cambridge. Direct and physical and causing us some problems. Too many of our players have not turned up or are having mares (e.g. DKD, Phillips, O'Keeffe, Mael). These guys need to contribute more in the second half if we're to get anything from the game.
Careful what you wish for. Donny isn’t exactly Beckenbauer himself is he? I wouldn’t change anything more for now. I think these will tire. They’ve been buzzing all round the shop. Desperate to make up for the Peterborough drubbing. I honestly think if we stay disciplined and at least try to be solid, there’s another goal or two in this for us at the back end of the match.
Stats say 80% passing accuracy for us. Pretty decent. Also nearly 58% possession. I think we’ve defended and passed well, but just not been good in the final 3rd. Barely seen Phillips or Keillor-Dunn on the ball.
He does going forward but he didn’t cover himself in glory when Humphrys just ran round him like he wasn’t there for the goal.
We need to make the ball stick up front more and have more sustained play in their half. They turn defence into attack fairly quickly
Imho...I thought all the recent improvements went. We were sooo poor slow and lethargic that first 35 mins. Thank God for Mark Roberts!...the two lads either side of him need a cold shower! Second half we need to quicken up our play and get some pace into our passing and movement. Thought the Nigerian lad has great passing range and control but needs pace..looks ok though. Overall more conviction and application and get Pines warmed up.
We were really poor first 15 minutes and Mael was having a disaster, but since then I think he's been excellent. Started off a couple of good attacks and been dominant since finding his footing. Think we all improved after we scored, they're physical but think we've handled it well for the most part and been playing some nice stuff. Crossing has been poor but some decent build up. Though DKD has been largely anonymous. I wouldnt change anything either though especially at the back.
Frustrating first half. Excellent goal from Humphreys. Some of the worst defending I’ve seen from DeGevigney. Some very good passes from Nwakali. But generally we look a bit pedestrian again. Hopefully we can inject a bit of urgency and intent into our play second half.
So do we think that Watters injured himself chasing down Earl's awful ball or did Clarke realise he'd picked three attackers and two attacking midfielders?
There's one lad on that pitch today in a pink shirt who oozes pure class. He's on a different level to any other player on the pitch. Not hit one bad pass. Every pass found the man whether 5 yards or 40 yards. Looks like he's got oodles of time on the ball. Doesn't panic. Positioning perfect. Very composed. He came in for the usual stick on here after a couple of performances when we hadn't really seen him play. I do hope that, on the basis of that 45 minutes, some folk might realise that players need time to settle. He's our number 50. His name is Nwakali.
