Not the best tbh, especially as a shortarse - had full view of Humphrys run and goal though. Been places with worse views though.
Excellent from the terrace. Was expecting it to be too low down with pillars obscuring my view. In the event neither was an issue. However, I remember the view from the seats being absolutely awful, albeit that was 30 years ago. The ground has hardly changed, except for that new stand so far behind the goal that it's in a different county.
I went last season and 1 before. None of my usual lot were going yesterday, but I’d planned to drive myself down. Thought better of it when I saw we only had 120 seats and they’d shoved us down the side. That new stand is where we’ve been housed last 2 years, and it’s a very decent view. I know some like standing up, but it’s not my bag.
To be honest it was pretty similar to that Wimbledon view, I said same yesterday. As others have said a bit better though but definitely reminded me of it,

By the time we’d got my mates head set and stuff, we ended up standing on the flat bit near the corner flag at Wimbledon. It was ok second half but when we were kicking the other way, we couldn’t see anything down the left wing for stand and heads I don’t mind so much with Wimbledon as they were only there temporarily, but for a club to ‘downgrade’ facilities for away fans seems a bit harsh bearing in mind the amount of empty seats behind the goal.
It’s a strange one why they’ve chosen to move away fans. Can only think it’s because they sold more home season tickets this summer?
I went to a random AFC Wimbledon home match when I was crossing off grounds for the 92. I stood in the side stand, about level with the 6 yard box, but could barely see a thing, so left at half-time. But then it became really bizarre. Before the game I had seen all the food and drink stalls outside. Far better than your usual football ground fare, and more like the international food market that comes to Barnsley. And at half-time they just open the gates, so everyone can go out and use them. They were just letting people. Come and go as they pleased. As I walked up the road to the station there were people in the chippy, the shop, etc, all in their footy shirts. I’ve never been at a footy ground where they a) offered such a good choice of food and drink, and b) treated the spectators like responsible adults. I just couldn’t see that kind of thing working at any other ground. If they did it at Oakwell the Mount would have to take half-time drink orders before kick-off, like at the theatre!
Long way from buses for some of our less mobile fans…..lady I know really struggled and her walking stick got stuck in that cattle grid…..
Going as a helper for my mate who’s visually impaired, we’ve often found it to be the case that smaller clubs really look after us. We visited Accy Stanley as neutrals and found it to have a real buzz about it. I wasn’t surprised that our fans enjoyed the experience when we finally played them in the league. I like the smaller clubs. They can’t afford to be complacent, so generally look after fans well.
