Didn't want to hijack the laptop thread. Might be helpful if we had a place where people could post/request Black Friday deals. Personally, I'm looking for a good deal on an iPhone 13 or 14 for my daughter's Christmas present. Currently £449 and £549 respectively for the 128GB versions at Argos. Is that as low as they'll go or should I hold out for better deals?
Other people who keep up with tech might have a better idea, but as somebody who's been vaguely interested in PlayStation prices over the years I get the impression that there's a lot more control over prices for hardware (Apple, Playstation, Xbox) than there used to be - 'deals' don't seem to exist anymore, even at established shops. If I definitely needed something for Christmas then I'd perhaps give it another week or so in case of a surprise drop, but after that I'd just buy one and be happy that it's locked in.
The Martin Lewis program that's just finished did a Christmas countdown of the different companies offers from Black Fri onwards, you'll be able to see it on catch up. One of the things he did mention was Argos have a guarantee that they will not reduce their Black Fri prices to a lesser price prior to Xmas.
It’s available at EE store for £10 cheaper. Don’t forget to get cashback too. Both Argos and EE are on Quidco and Top Cashback for varying amounts. They are both on Airtime Rewards too and they are stackable. You can also collect Nectar points at Argos (also stackable). If you’re bank offers cashback (e.g. Chase does 1%), that is stackable for both too.
If you use Topcashback, there's currently £20 automatic cashback on the iPhone 14 at carphone warehouse. It's £549 same as Argos but you'll receive the £20 back after a few months. If you don't use topcashback but are interested, pm me and I'll send you a sign up link. I'll then get a kickback for joining you up! My phone pick for younger kids or those on a tighter budget is the Honor 200 Lite on offer at the EE store. You'll be hard pressed to get more phone for £150! 5G capable, 8gb/256gb, 90Hz AMOLED screen, 108mp camera with AI processing... No wireless charging (or wired charger in the box) or eSIM capability but you can't have everything at that price!
Good deal on Amazon at the moment 50inch Hisence tv 4K Bluetooth and a whole load of other stuff on it £279.I have a 50inch Hisence had it a couple of years now cannot fault it cracking tv.
Don't want to be a party pooper and if looking for Xmas present probably a good time to buy but do your research try not to be caught up in the hype because after all this is a marketing ploy.
A couple of years since, my lad wanted a new telly for his room for watching and gaming. Have to admit that I am a bit of a ‘brands snob’ so ruled out Hisense. However, did a bit of homework and Hisense appeared to be one of the best performing TVs on the market so I bit the bullet and bought him one for a similar price you stated, above (though think a bit smaller, maybe 43”). And it is, without doubt, the best television in our house by some distance.
Interestingly was looking at a particular laptop recently and found a price tracking site. Showed said device was released at £799 in July, reduced gradually to £659 at the start of november, back up to £799 on the 9th then reduced back to £659 again just days later. Therefore demonstrating that indeed it once was 799 and is now 659 but was also 659 before any of these Black Friday deals were online.
There will be some genuine good deals but by the same token there will be lots of smoke and mirrors buyer be where.
Is £52.99 for a Ben Sherman wine coloured polo shirt expensive? Is Lambretta still a decent make? Seen a Burgundy Harrington for £42.95.
TOG have an ‘up to 60%’ sale on, for eg a £55 full zip fleece jacket for £22. https://www.tog24.com/collections/mens-black-friday-fleece
Similar, l was Samsung all the way. I'm a bit of a TV freak so love all the tech, 4k, FPS rates etc..l then researched Hisense to death, you then learn about the panels for the TVs, where they're built etc. I bought a 43inch Hisense for the young uns Xbox X and then changed our main TV to a 55 inch Hisense U8. Brilliant TV, spent a far bit on a Hisense soundbar and woofer but the TV doesn't need it.
