That was as poor a performance as under Collins, afraid we lack quality we are just an ordinary league 1 side. We created nothing in open play against a pretty average Wigan side.
For some reason there seemed no urgency from us today. With and without the ball. We know they like try and be clever at the back and mistakes will come from that, especially in those conditions, but we rarely seemed to close their centre backs down. With the ball, sometimes it seems we’d rather go backwards than attack teams with any kind of pace. Awful conditions for keepers today and I bet theirs has probably had his easiest game of the season.
Poor performance today, no getting away from it. To say we're inconsistent would be an understatement. However, we go again on Tuesday against another bogey team at home. We've played well these past few weeks and matches, so I'm not going to go OTT today with criticism. Disappointed, but it's not the end of the world.
We had a lot of corners at the end of the game but their keeper was good and the shots/headers weren't really powerful enough!
Yeah exactly, and Ive posted the same elsewhere. To put it simply, we move on now, and we have more matches to come. We certainly shouldn't let this ruin our season, even though yeah it has been disappointing today.
One of the strangest games I can remember seeing. We didn’t deserve to win but I don’t think they deserved anymore than a point. They offered nothing going forward bar the goal & spent most of the game time wasting. Whilst none of our players covered themselves in glory I thought O’Keeffe, De Gevigney, Connell & Humphrys were the worst four so the subs were baffling to say the least. De Gevigney’s foul throw, that short corner to Connell that he blazed over while we had four centre backs & two forwards in the box, several silly balls along the backline when the weather conditions didn’t allow for it. Just several baffling decisions from players who ought to know better. Really disappointing that none of Humphrys, Phillips & DKD tested their keeper in them conditions. Considering how good he was at kicking he can’t be that good at shot stopping too or he’d be in the prem! Just a very miserable afternoon all round. Hopefully just a blip & we’ll be back to the standard we’ve set in recent games on Tuesday.
The lad for Wigan that skinned him showed him how to cross and he probably didn't need 5 or 6 attempts to do it.
I wondered about that then figured I must have it wrong as professional ref wouldn't make that sort of mistake. Surely was our ball to have back? And why stop in first place when clearly not a head injury? Twonk
He was invisible. It was some time after that ridiculous quadruple substitution that his name was mentioned and I had forgotten that he was on the pitch. A couple of good games amongst a load of poor ones just won’t do Sam!
Not remotely good enough against what I felt were poor opponents. Another home game where the performance was miles off it. The painstakingly slow passing side to side was back on show. A proper lack of pace, guile and composure throughout. And the defending for the goal was embarrassing. Other than that… I really thought we’d turned a corner. But that was another tough watch.
It was v v poor. You're being polite. The Leaders in that group of players should be pulling together the squad tomorrow, independant of the coaching staff, and talking/sorting out why they can't hit an acceptable level of consistency. They're letting themselves and each other down.
I think there was only Killip who I’d say played well. The goal wasn’t his fault and he was spot on in everything else he did. I didn’t notice a lack of effort. They were all trying. But it’s worrying that practically the entire team were off their game. The last 20 minutes of deep or angled crosses annoyed me. Fab tried to get at them, when he came on. But generally, there was a lack of that. Players trying to beat someone. And no triangles. No patterns. It was all so laboured and obvious. Everything played in front of Wigan. Wånk.
