So have we worked out how they got the drop ball given to them yet?

Bloke on the floor must have been deemed to be in possession of it when it bounced off his arse...

The referee really was a disgrace.
Their players just kept casually taking a lie down, on the pitch, and he would stop the game. I always thought that should only be for head injuries. Then we would give them a couple of minutes to faff about with the gaffer tape on their socks before resuming.
There was also an incident, from a corner of ours in the first half, and Sibbick just blatantly had hold of MDG’s arm trying to yank it off. Anywhere else on the pitch that’s a foul and a booking but the ref bottled it.

Worst decision or lack of was when he comedically started chasing their player around the pitch trying to get him to leave the pitch behind the net only for the player to duck under the referees arms and run away from him. Showed a complete lack of authority

For some reason it’s become acceptable to wrestle in the penalty area on corners now and nothing is given except normally a foul for the team defending you rarely ever see pens given anymore for shirt pulling etc

I'm curious as to when shirt pulling was allowed? It's ridiculous these days!

Wigan managed the ref yesterday ....the head injury that was typical.
Very hard for refs with everyone cheating but giving them a drop ball, infuriated me....whats stopping teams doing that every time they are under the cosh?

It'll all be sorted when games are refereed remotely by AI. To begin with, football will degenerate into a stop-start farce, but then when players suspensions start to kick in, players will learn to toe the line and football will become worth watching again.

Of course, all that could happen right now, if referees had some gumption. And if they understood the bloody rules themselves...

Uncontested drop ball, might I add.
I have lost touch with all the rule changes but when did a drop ball become just the ref dropping the ball at the feet of a players whose team mate has just faked an injury?

Posted this on another thread. More apt on here.

'Refs are getting soft. Over players going down for example. If it isn't a compound fracture. Tongue stuck in throat or obviously unconscious. Play the fekk on. It was so blatantly used by wigan today with not so much as even cramp. At least 3 occasions to break Barnsley's rhythm.'

I'm not a violent person . But would happily baseball bat the fekkers even our own players.

As for the incident referenced. I missed that and their goal.(Nature called). But it was a big topic during our half time chat on the concourse. All in agreement saying bizzare decision.

Appreciate the clarification though, as I stated, I don’t keep up to date with the minor rule changes.
Not too many years since, they changed the offside rule to ‘daylight’ (think there had to be a clear gap between attacker and defender to be deemed offside) which I thought worked really well. Whereas, now, you can be offside just for having bushy eyebrows.

So is the logic for yesterday he blew when it hit the prone players arse hence they get the restart despite us being in possession immediately after that? Bigger issue for me is why he actually blew up - happy to be corrected but I thought that was only for head injuries?

It's for serious injuries which his minor foot injury that didn't even require assistance to walk off clearly wasn't.

Oh god I was fuming when their 29 would not get off the pitch. Ref told him to exit next to the goal and he kept standing just on the edge of the pitch, even when the ref went back over. It needs Benny Hill music adding over it.

I was furious with our incompetence, their blatant cheating and the “refereeing “ throughout the match. I’ve never shouted at my computer screen as much as I did yesterday. The only saving grace for the whole day was that I didn’t travel to witness it.

He reffed it like an under 10's game, any injuries he stopped the game and drop ball to opposition. Shocking official
