David Coote yet again

Now being Investigated for claims he sent a text message to his mate before a game to put money on him booking a certain player in a game back in 2019

 

Wow, really hope this is ******/without foundation as it could open up ‘witch-hunt’ type scenarios with every perceived controversy in all games

 

Not all refs will be clean. I bet (pardon the pun) plenty will have backed a player to get booked, knowing they would book them.

 

I wish they’d just leave him alone now, he made a mistake with the Liverpool comments and paid the ultimate price of losing his career. Isn’t that enough?

It seems the papers, probably The Sun and the Daily Mail are digging for stories, which I’d imagine are mostly fabricated.

What else are they achieving by printing things like this now? Nothing good can come from it, even if it does happen to be true.

 

I would say this acusation is way worse than the other stuff, nobody cares about doing a few lines or calling klopp a C but booking players for cash is another level for me

 

If it's not true then I agree. But if it turns out to be true I feel very differently - corruption should be surfaced and taken very seriously imo.

 

Sadly it sells newspapers, i wouldn't have ANY newspaper given these days,s hit stirrers the lot of em.

Where money can be made there will be fiddling going on in all sports around the world. I just wonder over the years how many my eyes have seen at oakwell with out realising it.

 

If they pocketed from it too even more so.

 

It feels a bit more nefarious than that to me, the slow drip feeding of stories of escalating severity. It feels as if someone is trying to destroy/make an example of him.

If their bet lost, would that be enough reason to sell the story?

 

I have zero sympathy for Coote what's so ever one drunken/drugged up shouting his mouth off is one thing but texting a mate when he's thinking clearly to do what he suggested is at a whole other level. If the referees integrity is called into question the game is stuffed as much as we want to vent at them no refs no game I'm afraid.

 

I've said this before several times, but if people think there isn't or hasn't been corruption in a world where all the players and owners are multimillionaires and where there are millions riding on promotion and relegation and obscene money wagered on the outcome of every match when the guy in charge at the same time is earning 50 or 60k a year, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Look at the League 1 playoff final in 2023. Millions at stake on the outcome of the game. Decisions made and ratified by VAR that were clearly incorrect. Occom's razor - whats the most obvious explanation for why the penalty wasnt given? Human error? Really, when its being checked in slow motion replay?

It has to be rife and there will be more to come out than this which, in my opinion, is relatively tame in and of its self (Coote didnt benefit personally financially, i believe the challenge was a clear and obvious booking). I bet there's a few shitting themselves though about their Bitcoin wallets.

You are joking right? Betting on players getting booked when the ref in charge of the game tips you off? That's way worse than what the divvy might have said about Klop...

 

That game sapped the last bit of belief from the players.

 

Yeah never liked Liverpool since,you'd have thought they were Angels .

 

If he's been betting on games he's reffed in and cheating then he deserves to rot in prison and the same goes for anyone else who does it

BUT I'm not a court so I don't know if he's done that or not and i don't believe the allegations should be made publicly, thats why we report things to the police and people go to court. I hope for his sake and for the sake of football that it is made up nonsense to sell newspapers
