Taken Liverpool to another level on the evidence of performances so far, schooled Real Madrid, Mfloppe missed a pen as did Salah
Mbappe - decent goalscoring record but been so underwhelming by his standards. As expected by a lot of folk to be fair. A team of individuals, just like Beckham's Galatico era
I’m amazed they were written off by almost every pundit in the summer. They all had this idea that it was a two horse race between Arsenal & City. Liverpool led the lead up to about March time & it was a huge injury crisis that did for them. They were brilliant tonight. A joy to watch some of the football they played.
It was same last season, they had an off year the year before when they finished 5th (I think ?) but had loads of injuries and set backs. It's as though pundits just forgot how good their squad actually is, especially their first XI
Agree, some of the one touch stuff they play, is unreal look like scoring every time they go forward.
Is it me or has he become so one dimensional and predictable? Just wants to pull wide left and cut in on his right foot, defenders either just show him down the line or get bodies around him
That’s what he always was. He’s very good at it, but still. He’s not actually as brilliant as the world and he seemed to think. Still a very, very good player and unplayable on his day. But he’s not at the top tier, never was for me.
It's weird at the minute looking inward at Madrid, they've already got one of the best left wingers in the world but felt the need to sign Mbappe for the same position (plus they had a player in Rodrygo who was massively important to the team structure who is now benched because of Mbappe) and instead of getting one to do a job up front they just seem to be happy for them to both occupy left wing. Theyve sacrificed the balance of their team to try shoehorn Mbappe in and it's just a bit daft, and it's very surprising an experienced manager in Ancelloti is participating in this. They need to tell Vinicus Junior or Mbappe they need to put the team first and either do a job for them upfront or sit on the bench. Obviously that excludes games like tonight where Mbappe played alone on his favourite side and still has a stinker.
They really do make football the beautiful game it is supposed to be. They were outstanding tonight. Hate the Premier league, but I have to say, I do like watching Liverpool on song like that.
Personally, I don't think Ancelotti had any imput what so ever mate. They've wanted him for years & years and was always destined to join. Definitely messes up their balance though. Vinicius has been best LW for a couple of years now imo so if they do move him(doesnt look like they will as Mbappe has been playing up top) they're daft. But yeah I think he was always joining, certainly on a 'free'
I don't know why but I always think of Pizza when I see Ancelloti's name. Don't know whether it's because he's Italian or because it sounds like Anchovy. Back to football. I agree. Mbappe upsets the balance.
Apparently Madrid started with a 4-2-2-2 formation, can’t even begin to understand how that works, you are basically putting all your eggs into backing yourself attacking wise and hoping to overwhelm the opposition. As my Liverpool supporting friend said last night Liverpool this season so far have only had easy games in the PL & CL as they haven’t played anyone above them yet.
I dunno, I reckon this Mbappe lad has something about him: https://www.google.com/search?clien...-8bnyP6JAxVIZkEAHZOKOPMQ4fIBKAB6BAgoEAs#ebo=0
They seem a lot more in control Liverpool this season - happy to go 2 up then kill games. Klopp used to want to win 5-1, whereas Slot is happy with the steadier win. They've got a tougher run of games coming up though - I'd say they've had the easiest schedule out of the "Big Three".
Surprised & disappointed with the booing of Jude Bellingham by those most wonderful and welcoming Liverpool fans. Really Pathetic.
Definitely. I think their first 11 has always matched up to City’s. Allison, Trent, Robertson, Van Dijk, Salah & Mane would’ve got in City’s side for me. It was just after that where City had better quality on the bench & could cope better if they picked up injuries.
