Marsh is only here because he's a local lad. We all want him to do well but 2 failed loans and enough head coaches here have got little out of him.
]] Red"> Yep he did well in our loss to Bristol on pens can’t wait to see how he does in the next round. When he does nothing again.
There should be no comparison between Marsh & Jalo. Marsh’s contract ran down in the summer & we’ve only given him a one year contract on what I’m sure will be minimum pro-contract terms. Jalo’s name was constantly linked with clubs further up the pyramid & is in the Portuguese under 18 or 19 squad. The clubs given him a long term contract & what will be significantly higher wages. Whether it’s misguided or not the club have high hopes for Jalo.
I still don't understand why he/Jalo still keeps getting slagged off, for apparently not doing this or not doing that, etc!. Surely he alone can't be blamed because we didn't go on to win the game today, after he came on. Yeah I know he's an impact sub, somebody who we hope can make things happen when hes brought on. But at his age still, he can't be expected to do that all on his own. And its made a damn sight harder when some others out there, are also under performing!.
I doubt jalos motive for staying was money as if the rumours of him been linked with leeds, premier league clubs and serie A clubs they could have paid him far more for just playing u21s football. Apparently him and his dad sat down with the club and said he wanted to work his way into the 1st team and not move to just play u21s football. So far this season he hasn't started 1 league game, he's just been brought on while chasing a game or while we are in the lead. So far this season aiden marsh has played more league one minutes than jalo. I doubt the wages are so much different.
Im with you, he’s a winger for me. 4-3-2-1. Kilip, Okeefe Roberts Earl Gent nwakali Connell Jalo Phillips/dkd dkd/humphs humphs/watters
Jalo scored a similarly impressive penalty early last season in the shootout with Tranmere. He reminded me of Ivan Toney in the way he strolled up and smashed the ball with great power into the bottom corner.
To be fair, hasn't Jalo been injured a lot of season mate with his shoulder? Then he returned and got injured again. Not disputing what you're saying btw, I seem to remember the same thing about him and his dad sitting down with the coaches and talking about first team football. I do think he'd have played more if not for those injuries
He has been injured this season. Don't think he's missed many games though injury though. I think if money was his motivation he would have gone last season and played u21s football at some premier league club. I don't think him and marsh's wages will be much different.
Yes, I'd be surprised if it was anything to do with money really (within reason obviously...) because hed earn plenty more sitting in a bigger sides reserve set up.
I understand that his Dad was a major influence why he didn't move on. His Dad was an ex-pro who apparently dislkes (putting it mildly) agents. Jalo and his dad met with the club and they both felt he would be happier and his development better by staying at Oakwell.
