He’s a clogger of a manager. Nothing more, nothing less. Who ever decided he was the guy to be head hunted needs binning off too.
And yet I feel like the only reason we sat back that half was because of him. He saw we were playing Wrexham and thought "oh well these have been on the telly, better give them every chance of winning". Not the sort of mentality I want in a manager tbh.
Just realised I've wasted the best years of my life following Barnsley and nothing has changed since 2003.
Doubt he'd resign mate. Certainly not when we're just outside of playoffs. Biggest club hes ever managed and will be on most money. Also wouldn't look good for future jobs if he's bailling when times are hard.
Was never gonna be the guy to take us up but many wouldn’t be able to. The squad at his disposal is appalling. The attack is woeful. The second best defender at the club is sat on the bench because he can’t play next to the best defender, we have no competition at left back, midfielders who believe their own false hype and no 20 goal a season attackers whilst everyone else seems to have found one. Don’t mention the fact Clarke said he wants wingers as a plan b earlier in the summer and we don’t have any.
The Club just feels "done" to me. The fans aren't turning up anymore, myself being one of them, I just can't justify it anymore. We have a team completely devoid of effort, quality, guile or desire. A manager who doesn't seem to be up to the job and comes out with tired sound bites in every interview. An ownership group who simply can't or won't (same difference) fund the Club appropriately for this level (nevermind the Championship). We're on a downward spiral, recruiting worse players than we're losing season after season. The quality of football has nosedived. We played better football 20 years ago when a lot of it was played route 1 style in England. It just seems....over. I don't know how else to describe it.
The squad got significantly weaker in the summer when Collins replaced Duff & it showed on the pitch. The squads got significantly weaker again in the summer as Clarke has replaced Collins & it seems to be showing on the pitch. We can’t keep replacing quality players with inferior ones & expect the same kind of results.
He keeps persisting in bringing on Lofthouse, which is more evidence that he is unfit for the office of Barnsley manager. Bang average lower league manager making bang average tactical decisions.
You say " the fans aren't turning up anymore"....but it's only 500 down on last seasons average, taking into account the crappy fixture days and times it's quite understandable.
So we're averaging .5K lower than last season. Might not be much if you're pulling 25/30K in every other week. We aren't. We're getting what? 12K. Keep that trend of losing 500 odd regulars for the next 5 years or so, and we're averaging below 10K...what do we say then? It's death by a thousand cuts stuff. We're bleeding.
That's because they count season ticket holders as part of the attendance even if they're 'no shows'.
