    Evening SD.

Just a quick reminder that I never once mentioned your child or brought him into this discussion.

    Thanks.

    I don't think that's still the case, but I can't speak for every C of E school.

Summat like that few years back now though so doubt anything like that happens now they'd be uproar. Teach them how there's not just male and female and you can identify as anything.

I'm saying that teaching kids about different religions is good. Teaching kids that one religion is correct doesn't sit well with me.

If you could maybe post articles from the Independent or Guardian now and then, that would be useful. Anything from the Daily Heil or Murdoch press just won't get clicked on.

It is hardly surprising that footballers don’t want to come out if fans can treat their fellow fans in this way. This is what is wrong with society today, and whilst I cannot say whether these 2 people that abused Matt Lucas were religious and firmly believe the teachings, if I was a betting man I would guess they were just bigoted homophobic w@nkers

The initial batch of replies to his post are just grim.

I think we're very much at a point unless someone is a far right populist with supremacist sentiment, the platform formerly known as twitter should be avoided at all costs.

You are likely to be right but Firmly believing doesn’t condone abuse though,

I completely agree, but unfortunately deeply religious people don’t seem to have any compassion for those that hold a different point of view

It's important to have eyes all across the broad spectrum of media. I'm sure the sites you mentioned will have articles up against it too.

They are Football players there to play Football not to have virtue signalling forced upon them, only to be vilified when they don't tow the line. Football players shouldn't have to be seen supporting something publicly to know they believe in it.

Times have changed much for the better in the past few decades and will continue to do so. Most people nowadays quite rightly don't care if someone is gay or not and are happy for them to live their life how they want.

Feel free to list all the non homophobic reasons why you would refuse to be involved with saying that you accept homosexuality

It would be nice if you did have even the tiniest of spectrums to the articles and links you post, but sadly it is a very narrow view you post that is firmly ensconced in a populism and right wing prism.

It's not about towing any line. Its about simply showing compassion, empathy and decency. A show that they have allies. If someone is incapable of that, they deserve little of it in return.

It's perhaps not surprising that these same people of a narrow view squeal victimhood over minor things that don't impact their lives in any way. They hold up freedom of speech, yet try and suppress it for those offering any dissenting view. They dub anyone who dare question their little minds "Remoaners". "Woke". "Loony Left" "Virtue Signallers". That ilk can make up as many words to describe the decent as they like, I will not be cowed in standing up for whats right and calling out whats wrong.

I'd have more respect if such people just admitted they were what everyone could see them to be. But obviously that's not the way of the likes of the Dacres, Farages and their grubby acolytes and overlords.

So maybe try a different lens to view the world. See how it feels.

Are we really at a point in society where saying you're against homophobia is classed as virtue signalling and not simply classed as the right thing to do?

Obviously you know what virtue signalling is so if any footballer believes they are having virtue signalling forced upon them then they are homophobic right? How else could you be forced to accept homosexual people when you don't agree with it unless you were homophobic?

I wouldn't wear the armband. I object to being forced into displaying a political message, whether I agree with that message or not. It renders it meaningless.

Before I'm labelled this or that, are you absolutely sure you know my sexuality?

What is the political message? "I accept homosexual people" isn't a political message at all.
