Well it did happen. There is a world that exists that isn’t completely binary.

I agree Cryne gave him a long time, I agree Hammill was a catalyst, but players don’t suddenly find all the answers on their own. Some might, but Hourihane struggled for a good while. I know people don’t want to give any credit to Johnson, particularly as he showed no loyalty in walking and some of his decisions were bizarre. But I do think he played a part in Hourihane finding himself.

Agree to disagree mate no probs, don’t think you were around when Ronnie Glavin came to town, but he took time to settle too and then became the legend that he was, not sure that was anything to with Oakwell coaching either.

It was Scowen getting injured that forced Johnson from his 4-6-0 formation back to 4-4-2 mate.

Only a few games ago, things seemed to be looking better again on the pitch, didn't they ?.
And we were thinking about the top two maybe this season, instead of 'only' the Play offs this time!.
I don't go along with this idea of Clarke is incompetent (again all of a sudden) and should be sacked etc.
But I do agree with the idea that the responsibility and the blame, goes right to the top, with these owners.
Whenever a Coach appointment, or anything else for that matter (like screwing up our place in the next round of the Fa cup) doesn't work out, it has to go against these lot!.

If coaches don’t play a part, why do we employ them?

I’m always happy to disagree. Especially when I know I’m right ;-)

No, I’m not saying he didn’t, I’m saying I can’t remember it ever been mentioned.

Hourihane certainly struggled for a long time partly because he was bought around the same time as Luke Berry & James Bailey. Scowen was also in midfield as well as Pearson on loan. It was Wilson’s midfield, some of which Johnson inherited. It didn’t work, hadn’t for Wilson.

If I remember correctly, Johnson liked a single striker and a packed midfield. George Waring was that striker when he first took the job. His remit was to hold the ball up for the midfield to ‘buzz around’ him. I think Hourihane, for his goal scoring ability, was better playing a bit deep and orchestrating play, with a runner like Scowen or Brownhill.

Haha, like talking to r lass!....only kidding, of course coaches play a part I just don’t give this particular one any credit for improving Hourihane’s nous. Suppose Connor is the only one who could say for definite eh.
