Think the ref was so poor today he was looking to give Birmingham an advantage all match starting with not giving the pen. Nothing could have been done for the equaliser he took that well but for the second slack defending once again!
The only point I would disagree on is that he didn’t ‘miss the obvious penalty’ because he had a fantastic view of it. He just decided not to give it. Utterly frustrating.
We can blame the ref as much as we want for defeats but he's not the one missing the chances or making the defensive mistakes that cost us goals, he's not the one picking a team and making substitutions that weaken rather than improve the team. The squad as a whole is as weak as piss both in it's mentality and ability the manage may have been handed a weak hand in the summer but he doesn't help himself with his decisions and I think subconsciously he is being affected by Hourihanes presence waiting in the wings making him be over cautious and negative.
He fell asleep on that one but hopefully he learns vey quickly, cracking tackle in the first half to probably save a goal too. It's the nature of the majority of our signings that we've got to wait a year or two for them to be anything like the finished article.
Well, as disappointing as the result was, the performance was ok. At least deserved a draw. I didn't even see the equaliser as I was texting my wife to say we'd took the lead. Awful ref, I really don't understand why the penalty wasn't given. Oh and to the ignorant twit behind me who got angry when i pointed out that if you're offside when the ball is played, it doesn't matter if a defender heads it - grow up you miserable git.
Always looks to me like he doesn't know what he wants to do when he's got the ball, and by the time he's made his mind up it's too late and he just runs straight into their player. Made a great tackle early doors though.
You You’d probably be happier if you didn’t post on here and enjoy whatever you’re doing. I haven’t been today, but I bet no-one that’s been feels the result any worse than I do.
You might have a point, but in truth I miss the good old days, I miss feeling ***** when we lose, especially to teams like Birmingham, throwing their weight around. I want something to be optimistic about supporting the reds, but that’s few & far between these days.
Agreed, should have got something at Wrexham and when we opened the scoring today l thought we'd get another. We are not far off, let's see what happens in the Jan window - we need to strengthen up front
Yes, the ref gave the opposition a very generous helping hand. But you can still help yourself. And the daft bookings we got in the first half were always likely to bite us on the backside. We also coughed up possession in dangerous areas, which cost us. That’s nothing to do with the referee or Birmingham. Russell and Gent for the goals will not be satisfied. It’s just slack work (bit of Kes for you). And whilst it was one of our better displays, we still lost. Again. It’s a very poor run, regardless of opponents and I don’t buy the ‘fine margins’ stuff either. You don’t get half a point for only losing by a single goal in a game you were competitive in. I can’t fault the graft, and it was - in large parts - a decent watch. But the goal is promotion. The club has been very clear about that. Hope everyone gets home safe and sound. Onto the next.
We showed fight today and we were better. That refereeing performance was the worst I've seen in years. Today we played against 12 men. He was an absolute disgrace.
Based on how both teams played we definitely didn’t deserve to lose that, However as a team we always find a way of managing to lose. Whether it be one game having 30+ shots and not scoring or like today - being on top, getting the goal, then conceding immediately and then getting a player sent off. very frustrating, but very predictable and promotion winning teams do the opposite - they find ways of winning games.
Two points in 5 games. 21st in the form table. Played 6 of the 7 teams currently sitting above us in the league and won 0. Not scoring enough and conceding at least one sloppy, avoidable goal in most games. It doesn't matter how well you play if you still go on and lose. The team are going through a rough patch at the busiest, and arguably, most important time of the season. I hope they manage to turn things around, but as it stands it’s looking more and more like a mid-table finish at best. Utterly depressing being a reds fan at the minute.
