Even with our obvious fragility at the back, if we had a decent striker, many of our draws this season would be wins, and losses, draws. Fine margins, as you state.
Gutted. I honestly think if Russell doesn't let that ball roll past his enormous, clumsy feet seconds after we went ahead we go on and win that game, even against the 12 men.
You're not alone, this manager may or may not have lost the dressing room but he sure as hell has lost the supporters, he is not liked generally that is obvious judging how so many prefer to find some other way of entertaining themselves on match days.
I haven't felt this sick about a defeat since Wembley. We weren't beaten by a better side today. That really hurts.
Could have had a pen via Humphrys in the first half. Otherwise to blame the ref for losing (again) is just your usual fan bias. We got up a head of steam after the break and were superior for a while. Could have gone either way till the sending off. We seem to have a classy player in Nwakali. Unless he's not fully fit he should be starting. Priority for Jan should be 2 wingbacks.
We played really well today and have a good honest bunch of lads. I think we are heading in the right direction and need stability. loads to improve on, but loads to be positive about.
No it shouldn’t, a striker or preferably two should be the priority until we start converting the numerous chances we make we aren’t going to win games
Yes, the 'fine margins' are ok to talk about once in a while but its fine margins all the time. At the moment, and its only over the last few 3 weeks its relegation form. That sounds very doom and gloomy but it is. There needs to be an uptick in results whether or not the overall play is ok or not. Not having a go at Clarke as such (I don't think), but some of the decent play needs goals and the regular lapses at the back need eliminating.
There's a philosophical debate there squire. What does really matter? Life is brief, football is just a game, in a 1000 years from now this game will be irrelevant etc etc...
I should be able to differentiate but I can't. When you've lost everything it hurts more. Wouldn't wish how I feel on anyone.
In the last 2 games, for example, we haven't given enough chances to our forwards to score. Humphrys and Jalo, and even Watters are in my opinion good enough if they get a chance. At the moment Humphrys has to make his own opportunities - today he was doing a Craig Davies/ Chris O'Grady/ Carlton Morris impersonation in having to use muscle from high balls up to him. Because there's no decent mode of progression forward. There's no running midfielder and the wide players can't beat a man. I have given up on Cosgrove though.
Totally agree, if our better players had turned up and made a difference we could have had 4 or even 6 points.
I thought we played okay today, but it's getting beyond a joke for continually missing chances that should be put to bed. We definitely should've had a penalty in the first half (Stansfield would've got it had he been subjected to such a challenge at the other end), the referee was poor. However, the team regularly seems to shoot itself in the foot and we've done it again today.
Good assessment, overall we quite good enough it as to said, unless we make the quality signings we obviously need in January then it will be a big job to make playoffs and this will be a rare season when we have nothing to play for late in season.
