Just reading what’s gone on overnight. That’s some coup. 50 years of oppression, toppled in just days.
There never seems to be any good outcomes in the Middle East whatever happens. As bad as the Assad regime was, it's unlikely that the new one will be any better. Once Trump is in the White House and Ukraine has been forced to negotiate and lose territory to Putin, Russia will back behind Assad and the tanks will be rolling in again. Mark my words...
I don’t know anything about the rebels tbh, you may well be right. Just thought it was incredible that the A-Team could assemble in weeks and get the job done.
An article I read suggested Erdoğan has encouraged the coup....he has 3m Syrian refugees in Turkey he wants rid of and Assad refused to take them back.
Yes they’ve backed some of the groups but won’t stand for an enlarged Kurd territory on their border or near it
There's been something like 8 or so backers, with a lot of planning over quite some time. I doubt Al Qaeda will get the reins due to the investment from certain nations.
Iraq and Syria's Kurdish areas will split from Iraq and Syria and join together and the Turkish Kurds will want to join them in "Kurdistan" that's the next flash point in the middle east unless the Iranian people finally decide they've had enough of the Mad Ayatollah's.
Makes you wonder about Russias strength doesn’t it? Haven’t been able to keep this under control, lost a huge amount of troops in Ukraine, using inexperienced NK troops in Kursk and not being able to kick the Ukrainians out.
If Putin hadn't got nukes NATO would have chased his army all the way back to Moscow and he'd be in the Hague now awaiting trial for war crimes or in a wooden box in the ground. Sadly having Nukes as a deterrent works both ways and the bad guys can do what they want to country's that haven't got them unless country's that have stand by them properly not half heartedly like we have with Ukraine
I worry about people like him having nuclear weapons. Trump and Kim Wrong Un as well, as they are the type of people to say ‘if I’m not having it, I’m going to smash it to bits’. You just have to hope there is someone in their chain of command to say ‘no’.
If Clinton hadn’t pressured Ukraine to give up their nukes , the current situation there wouldn’t have developed. The US promised to protect them , what happened to that
