Paul Mescal to star in Beatles film, Ridley Scott appears to confirm https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...-beatles-film-ridley-scott-appears-to-confirm You'll not get a bigger Beatles fan than me (unless you're a bigger Beatles fan than me) but just reading this makes me think it will be nothing inspiring, is well trodden ground, money-making attempt etc etc.
I think it's time to stop producing films and documentaries about the Beatles, I loved 'em to bits but it's starting to get boring.
New Dylan film looks interesting though.https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...chalamets-bob-dylan-is-an-electric-revelation
Agree, The Beatles were brill but it's run it's course. Same as Freddie Mercury, more press now than when he was around. The Bowie " film" was bizarre even by his bizzare standards..Lots of good bands and music over the past 60+ years to go at.
Suppose it depends on how accurately the play the lads really. I struggle to watch stuff if they don’t get the characters summat like. Historical stuffs quite easy because we never knew the real people, but more recent is going to be harder. Just look at Billy Bremner in ‘the damned United’
Thinking more the story than the music..would like to see the evolution of different bands not just The Beatles or Mercury..my Face ache feed is full of these every day.
I thought Rocket Man and the Elvis biopic were both absolutely tremendous. Bohemian Rhapsody less so. The first half was pretty good and the performances of the actors who play the band are all excellent. However, the second half of the film quickly degenerates into a clichéd mess which has no grounding in reality. Quite similar to The Crown in many ways. The first 3/4 seasons were essential viewing - before descending into a farcical soap opera.
