Only if there is a recall clause in the loan contract. This can only be inserted in season long loans and can only be activated in this coming window.
Didn't we have Harvey Barnes on a season loan from Leicester and they recalled him? Turned out well didn't it.
That was a little bit different. Leicester signed him permanently from Man united. They paid the 1.5 million that we wouldn't.
Of course we will have Gally we would never send players out on loan without a recall clause and not factor in potential injuries at some point. Would we
From my experience, it’s par for the course that there’s a break clause (for either party) in the January window. Some even have 24 hour recalls regardless. But I expect that isn’t the case here or we’d have seen an announcement already.
9.9 times out of 10 there's always a clause for recall mate, for a plethora of reasons. Injuries, good form, loaning to a better/higher club, lack of playing time etc. Id be shocked if we didn't bother to insert one with Shepherd!
I hope Shepherd and Lopata both return. Better than MDG and Pines anyway. Just a shame Roberts is injured however, I couldn't comment on McCarthy (never seen him play). A back three of Earl, Lopata and Shepherd wouldn't be that bad surely?
Think that's incredibly harsh on Pines and especially MDG but respect your opinion mate. I think Mael is so underrated by our fan base. Yes he makes clangers and needs to iron them out of his game, like Andersen, and they are more prominent because he tries risky passes and runs from deep, ultimately we have to weigh whether him taking those extra steps are worth it or not. But I really like him. Id leave Lopata on loan but would 100% recall Shepherd, even though at that time I suspect Earl would be back. Only issue is id rather him be playing week in week out and improving than sitting on our bench
Gunna need to do some business in January and hope to nick a couple of wins in the meantime to stay in touch.
He was back training for Ross County last time I saw. I’d be more inclined to bring Shepherd back of the two - but if Roberts is out longer term then Lopata might be a better bet than McCarthy - at least he’s played games this season.
I didn’t see Roberts get injured but I wonder if one of his old Brum teammates crocked him on purpose?
