I wondered this a while back. Seems like he’s drifted away from football. I’ve still got him on instagram from when he was with us but he doesn’t post anything. He was pretty highly rated by people at the club, certainly high rated enough for them to give him a 3 year deal. I’m not sure what went wrong.
I didn’t see him many times but when I did he didn’t look out of place. I watched him at Wembley when we played Spurs & thought he did pretty well. Bizarrely considering I’ve not looked for him in years I went on instagram tonight & the first post I saw was one of him & Mrs announcing the birth of their child.
He was very highly rated here, perhaps I'm getting him mixed up with someone else but didn't he pick up a fairly significant injury?
I don’t think so. It was very strange as we would hear updates about other players who had long term injuries but we never got that with Bird. For the last year or two of his deal he even stopped appearing for the youngsters.
Maybe I'm misremembering then mate, but your point is correct about everything going quiet. I thought I remembered something similar to what happened with Connell about an illness, but I'm assuming I'm probably wrong then and maybe he just faded a little. Was excited when he went on loan to Yeovil because I had very high hopes for the lad. Still I imagine he's only mid 20s now so wonder what he's up to.
