As I keep banging on about, they never forget. Our former players scoring against our Yorkshire rivals for their current club happens way too often.
456 League games. 52 Cup games. A total of 508 professional appearances and he's only 30. That's astonishing. He made his debut for Carlisle in the 2012-13 season when he was 18, playing 31 games that season. That's the fewest number of games he's ever played in a season. This is his 13th season as a professional and he averages 39 games per season (and we're not yet half way through this season, so that average will go up). That's incredible. He must be made of iron. And he's got 58 goals.
It's got absolutely nothing to do with it, and yeah you do keep posting it, for some reason. So you think that all of our former players, are just only thinking of our club when they score now, against a Yorkshire team ?. What about when he/Potts scores against other Lancashire clubs, would the Blackpool fans be saying the same ridiculous thing ?.
I was disappointed when he left us. I never understood why some of our supporters didn't rate him more highly, because he would have been first on my team sheet every week. Given the chance, I even sign him when I'm playing FIFA, where what he lacks in ability he more than offsets in strength and stamina. Makes our current lot look like cardboard cutouts.
I remember the game at Blackpool when he was easily the best player on the pitch. We signed him soon after
I've got to be honest. I really didn't rate him. I just took a, probably irrational, dislike to him. I can't help but be very, very impressed with his career stats though.
Why does it happen so often? Potts has played two dozen games this season and only scored 1 goal before today. Carlton Morris has only scored 5 goals this season, but brace of those were against Wednesday and he scored at Swilsboro in per season too. Bobby Thomas only 2 goals in 20+ games, but one a late equaliser against Sheffield United. They are many other examples too. If they were banging goals in all the time like Salah fair enough you'd have a point. I am listing goal shy players who seem to end up scoring in predictable games.
Underrated player. Great bloke (but very daft, ala Hammill who I also love). The only players who left Oakwell and made me well up as they departed. I also had him at 12/1 to score today so that’s my kebab paid for.
