no the issue is caused when someone posts a message that includes something like a number via the tapatalk IOS Barnsley fc bbs app and then it will parse the message like it’s an emoticon for some reason. It’s all in that link I posted above
Why are people using apps? This is a www bulletin board system. You use a browser. That's available on a desktop, a laptop, a tablet, a phone, or whatever else you're using to access the internet. This site would work on windows 3.1 using Netscape. Why the hell would you use an app? @Gally just block all apps from accessing this site
It’s this app causing the issue https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/barnsley-fc-bbs-fans-forum/id1214207743
Sorry mate, wasn't trying to call anyone out. I don't think we share technical knowhow on this site very well and I think we should. And the first thing we should talk about is that if you use an app to access this site then you're pretty much giving your whole self to a nefarious body for zero return. That app is scraping everything about you and selling it on. If you want to access the bbs then put https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/ into any browser, and you're on it. And that's the best set up it could ever be, because that's what it's designed for. Just open up Goole Chrome, copy and paste the web address above into it.
Tapatalk is a much better experience on a phone than the website imo. You say “you’re giving your whole self to a nefarious body for zero return” not only is that insanely hyperbolic, it’s also not true. You make it sound like it’s infecting your device and will steal your bank details. They’re very clear about the data they collect. https://www.tapatalk.com/privacy_policy
Also i should point out because you mentioned it specifically - google chrome collects far more data about you for advertising purposes than Tapatalk does.
It was an issue with tapatalk below a certain version when updating to iOS 18 - it got fixed on the main tapatalk app before iOS 18 even officially came out, but the skinned app specific for this site was never updated it seems
