Brentford are the Bees. Watford are the Hornets. Are there any Wasps? Also why are Watford called The Hornets with a bloody red Moose on their badge?
Every day is a schoolday. Re Watford. Hornet The club's badge originally featured a hornet, which was replaced by a hart in 1978. The club's supporters chose the nickname "The Hornets" when the team changed kit colors to yellow and black in 1959. Hart The hart, or male red deer, represents Hertfordshire, the county where Watford is located. Watford was the only professional football club in Hertfordshire for a long time, so it used the county's symbol as its own. Moose The club later confirmed that the crest actually featured a moose, not a hart.
