Why on earth would Ryan Reynolds buy Wrexham? Why on earth would a billionaire buy Wycombe? There's other takeovers happening so yes it could happen to us. These lot won't get their money back, however they're going to lose a hell of a lot more if they continue ******* up. I think they should cut their losses and move on.
Wrexham. Massive potential. The whole of North Wales. Wycombe, massively affluent area, near London. Brentford, London based, easy to attract players. Get ******* real, this is Barnsley. I know we were historically a second division team, but nowadays, get ******* real, it isn’t 1999 anymore.
That may be true, but until we have another suitor to buy us, fans would be foolish to wish away our present owners. In fact we should be grateful that they did this even though (in your opinion) they weren’t cut out for it.
No mate. Its 2024. Everyone in North America and the Middle East want to buy a football club. Absolutely laughable that you think there wouldnt be any interested parties.
I think the change of direction with fetching in a dof was admittance mistakes had been made. We are in early stages of that change, will if work I've no idea but needs to be given time.
It's a typical negative Barnsley mentality. No one is interested in us. No one will ever want to buy a us. We should be accepting our current lot and not strive for anything other than League 1 or 2 football.
I’m not arsed if it’s 2024 or ******* 2067, nee lovely person is arsed on Barnsley. The most impatient fanbase in ******* history. Full of middle aged males who think we should still be pushing promotion from the second tier. Get in the ******* real world. Although from what I can tell, you’re in a very high corporate position, so you’re about as far away from reality as it can get my guy.
'No interest' until health dictated that Cryne had to sell and then all of a sudden magically there was viable buying interest. Of course theres interest. There was last time the club was up for sale and there would be next time. Folk have their head a million miles up their arse if they think otherwise. People still stuck in 2015. World's moved on.
Exactly this. On a wider level, I work in Leeds and Sheffield and there's so much more positivity about those places. Barnsley should sell itself more, it has so much going for it with a magnificent town centre but you wouldn't have thought so with all the negativity about. Same applies to the football club, it's all doom and gloom with people stuck in the past. The club could do so much more under new ownership.
The Brentford one worked out and I would think anybody would have that set up in a heart beat. The rest we just don't know how it will work out in the medium and long term. It's all great at the moment the investment been enough and been spent wisely enough to get out of the lower leagues but they will hit a ceiling when it needs more time and money. I can't see all of the above working out for the best in the long term.
Here we go again Shep, people claiming that we've no choice but to stick with them. And that they are actually nice people, and they are really trying their best, and they really do mean well, etc. Apparently there's absolutely no other possible interested buyers out there. How does anybody know if this is the case ?. Yeah I understand the saying "be careful what you wish for, because the next lot might be worse". But for goodness sake, come on!.
Who “picked” our new head coach? I have a passing interest and understanding of football but I said he was a bang average journeyman coach/manager who has shown zero signs that he’s going to turn into anything else other than that when he joined. Why did we appointment him? Did he have a nice C.V? With my conspiracy hat on I’d have to say they never seriously expected anything other then failure this year - losing 2 first team strikers and not replacing them with like for like? No real effort to get a good keeper in? Surely Neerav is gaslighting the fans when he said the board think the squad is good enough for top 6? I reckon Collins could just be a useful idiot to take the flack, I’ve fallen for it myself, yes he’s useless but then that’s not his fault he’s been given a job he clearly can’t do, maybe those who appointed him knew what was coming this season? It’s the only rational explanation for him getting the job.
And surely its their responsibility as so called owners isn't, to be putting money into the club that they own. Otherwise, who else is meant to do it then, and why are they even still here doing it ?. When most of the time it means them having to cover up for their own incompetence.
And this my friend comes down to the negative Barnsley mentality. Accept your lot, know your limitations and don't strive for anything more! We're little old Barnsley and nothing more.
Yeah they are the sort of comments that really anger me. Things like.. get real your living in the past, who would buy us, we're only Barnsley, we're not top half of the Championship anymore, so just accept it and move on, etc. That is an appalling negative attitude to be honest.
Sykes wasn't ****** off Stephen. He wasnt in the least bit interested. Not one iota of evidence to support the fact he was. But documented in John Dennis's book. Cryne always stated he was reluctant to have anything to do with the club, but didn't want it to go to the wall in the end.
