We dont want to go up and who the hell would buy us. 2 of the regular sayings in my 50 odd year, yet still get spouted.

I do think they knew we were in for a tough season but can you imagine if Neerav had come out and said it. Some would have admired his honesty but most would have been up in arms. Most pundits had us finishing mid table and some were most upset with this but it's where we are,the squad bloated unbalanced and lacks quality. It's a hard sell to a club with our history and standing to say we need time and promotion isn't realistic at this level. Clarke has said we have a soft under belly and we've seen how soft today nothing is impossible but can't see this squad getting us promoted even with a strong January.

This has been spoken about with SD for ages now, mate. He has his mind made up and won't change the narrative he has around the Cryne's, though I don't really know why as SD and I share a lot of opinions together but I guess we just don't agree with one another on this one mate.

On another note, let's hope this result is our Barnsley v Altrincham result. Bottom of the pit, only one 1 up from here. fingers crossed anyway

No one needs to buy the club, pretty sure the club would be sold for the nominal £1.

it’s not the buying it’s accepting the level of investment required to make a push for promotion. Maybe the US pension fund that bought Ipswich in league one and disinvested recently may want another bash at it.

but why are we still running at an 8m deficit would be the biggest question cos it’s not like we have anything to show for it.

Thing is though Frog, how many times can and should we keep saying that, almost like its an excuse.
Hoping its the lowest we'll go, and that things hopefully can't get any worse etc.
Well I'm afraid to say, I think they just might do!.

I don't disagree that there would be parties interested in taking over the club but the one difference between us and most if not all the other clubs mentioned in this thread is that they own their grounds.

Unfortunately Barnsley Football club's only 'assets' are some fast-depreciating player contracts and a few lawnmowers. Set that against a cost base that has a multi-million pound underlying recurrent deficit and you can see why we might be less attractive than some others.

Successive owners have failed to get to grips with the cost base and that is why so much of the transfer revenue brought in has gone on propping up day to day spend rather than bringing in quality players.

As far as I'm aware the pay bill at Oakwell per the respective last published accounts was higher than that at Wrexham. But Wrexham seem to have a smaller number of higher quality players, nothing like the same level of non-first team and academy costs, they manage to get by on matchdays with half the number of staff that we have and they don't spend the thick end of £1m a year on Flatman, Sormaz and Zuk posts.

You happy to accept this mediocrity? I bet you're delighted we're just little old Barnsley, no desire to improve at anything, accept our lot. why should we want more than League one football? How dare we dream about better things. In reality, these owners have consistently showed they are incapable of competently running the football club, they make poor decision after poor decision and don't learn from them. They're having to put in £8m of their own capital to keep us running, for a club at this level that simply isn't good enough. They aren't going to get any money back and should cut their losses and go now. Alternatively we keep going on this downward trajectory.

Be very careful mate, the mess we are in at the moment was caused by the Cryne family partially divesting itself from the club. At least when Patrick was alive and in charge, things were on an even keel compared to the rudderless shambles we have now.
