Bit of a pointless story because idiots on internet will always find something to be petty about.

It's a brilliant thing he does and fair play to him for doing it again after being warned and taking **** for it before. Islam is supposed to be about peace, Christianity is supposed to be about peace, no reason they shouldn't share festivities and respect to one another.

He seems a wonderful bloke and he's certainly one kids can and should look up to.

I work alongside Muslims and each and every one wished me a Merry Christmas. They may not celebrate like most in this country do, but my colleagues use the time very similarly - shared with family, eat well and give to others.

But that’s lived experience. Doesn’t count for anything in the far right echo chamber of the internet, where no f***** has ever shared five seconds with anyone ‘different’.

Indoctrination; why is religion so scared of people making their own mind up into what they believe?

Eight of my team of fourteen are Muslim.

Each and every one of them wished me merry Christmas before I logged out yesterday and they were all doing something with family to mark Christmas today - just nothing religious obviously.

Like you say though. Actual lived experience doesn’t match up to the gb news, daily mail rhetoric driven agenda for some.

Perhaps you are correct, mate. All I mean by it is if he had come out and said I'm not putting up a tree, other idiots would then berate him for that. It's a cesspool.

Riyadh, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Damascus - all decorated for Christmas. As is Doha, even malls in Islamabad, Karachi.

Christmas might well be a Christian festival but it has transcended religion and is a massive part of western culture despite religion and Christianity in particular not being so much in modern times.

The social aspect of Christmas and theme of generosity isn’t restricted to Christianity. I personally am not religious, I have no faith whatsoever.

I don’t find it hypocritical to celebrate Christmas and Easter. All of the guys I work with of the Islamic faith all were getting gifts and having their version of a Christmas dinner with wider family - I didn’t directly ask but it was mentioned by most that they had trees up and the kids were excited etc.

They believe the nativity story no more or less than me - and a fair proportion of other folk - who still celebrate Christmas regardless.

So no, ‘they’ aren’t offended by Christmas. We aren’t banned from saying merry Christmas. We can have decorations up in our town and city centres.

Some folk should try opening their eyes, broadening their horizons and look outside their bubble of ignorance. I’ve been part of Eid celebrations, sharing food and having a good laugh; Muslim weddings are very different to a ‘western’ wedding in a lot of ways but are absolutely fantastic (it’s easy enough to keep me happy with food it has to be said) - and of the dozens of Muslims, both male and female, who I’ve worked with in my career to date, I’ve never found one who wanted to alter our laws or culture whatsoever. Funny that.

It’s amazing what can happen when you do simple things like talk, listen, ask and mix in. You learn about other people, you make bloody good friends and you don’t care about which version of a sky fairy they pray to or that their grandparents were born abroad. You also learn about positive aspects of different cultures and religions instead of just buying into the negativity.

But no, the restricted of thinking fancy a repatriation scheme, blindly oblivious to the fact that people who are second or third generation will be repatriated nowhere.

The Muslims calling out mo Salah for having a tree aren’t a majority. They are the equivalent of the loud extreme far right mob on Twitter - just as extreme but from the other perspective.

Syria - in an outlying town. And there are protests in Damascus because of it.

The uproar is more that every year when he posts his tree picture Liverpool fail to win the Premier league.
And every Muslim I've ever come across, even the more devout ones, have no problem with things like wishing you a Merry Christmas or even chocolate advent calendars. Daily Mail doing its usual let's stir the racial pot again no doubt.

Every year we give our Muslim neighbours a Christmas present for being lovely neighbours. And they give us one back. Same happens as Eid too.

I booked in a lovely Asian person for their appointment on Christmas Eve. They weren't sure where the clinic was so I escorted them to the clinic. When they returned they wished me a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Yep most Christians and Muslims are actually nice people. Not because of their religion or religious texts. Just because they are nice people.

I think they're (Asian people) taken for granted. The surgeon that saved my right eye in Scarborough. Abdul Ghafer excellent cricketer that talked me through a bad period of my life and was an excellent team mate and mentor. There are more great people. Very subservient :).

Tbf I didn't even know the ins and outs of the Christmas tree and the Christian meaning, I never put it up with religous or jesus thoughts, it goes up because the wife and kids like it and brings back memories of years gone by/ good times with family who are no longer here, and memories for our kids, maybe the same for old Mo and family, good on him, tbf I don't think many do it nowadays with the origins or religion in there minds

My line manager is a hijab wearing muslim, we also have another hijab wearing muslim in our team of 10. Both took part in our Christmas meal and celebrations, taking part in secret santa etc. with one actually organising the whole thing. My manager was going for a walk in the peak district on Christmas day whilst her kids spent time with their cousins. Nobody is wanting to cancel Christmas and people will celebrate how they see fit.
