I see quite a few in the Prem with BFC connections so what's the best BFC related Prem team?

    Rules:
    - they must have made a Premier League appearance for another team other than Barnsley, on loan or permanent.
    - One appearance for Barnsley in any division, either on loan or permanent.
    - 4-4-2 formation

    Pretty much this but:

Ivan Toney or David Hirst for Jay Rodriguez
I dont think Barnard qualifies by the rules stated.

In terms of goalkeepers, it boiled down to either Clive Baker or Jack Butland although I did rate Kevin Miller. Whilst Clive was the first 'keeper I saw as a Reds fan, I've gone with Butland. He might have only been here briefly on loan, but he's played close to a hundred games in the Prem, and went on to play a few times for England.

So, at right back I narrowed it down to one of Kieran Trippier, Rory Delap and John Beresford. I've gone with the latter, as he was part of a great Newcastle side that were battling for the Prem title, plus he was in the first Reds side I ever saw. Three great options though, in their pomp.

At the other side, I haven't even given it any thought. It's Darren Barnard.

In terms of the centre half pairing, you have to pick John Stones. But there's a few who have a strong case to line up next to him. Arjan de Zeeuw, Steve Chettle and Gerry Taggart were all more than decent at Prem level, but it has to be Ethan Pinnock.

At right wing, I was going to go with Stuart Ripley as he was something else for Blackburn when they were very good. But I have to find a place for Craig Hignett, so he's playing on the right, with Harvey Barnes from the left.

Neil Redfearn gets one of the central midfield berths, and the captain's armband. I loved Jan Molby, but he barely appeared for Liverpool in the Prem, which is why we got him when we did. I did consider Conor Hourihane, of course, but I've gone with Danny Drinkwater. Based on him winning the Prem with Leicester. I think he'd have worked well alongside Redders too. Tough call though.

Up front it's Ashley Ward and David Hirst, and not even debatable.

Butland; Beresford, Stones, Pinnock, Barnard; Hignett, Redfearn (c), Drinkwater, Barnes; Ward, Hirst.

Subs: Baker, Trippier, Delap, Taggart, Ripley, Hourihane, Toney.

Pinnock’s gone on to have a better premier league career but Mawson definitely deserves a mention for the spot alongside Stones. £20m move & an England call up before his injuries started.

    Good shout with Drinkwater.

Beresford was a top player but his right foot was pretty much for standing on. Would give Barnard a push for left back but nowhere near Trippier for right back on his wrong side.
