Everyone has their own opinion about every individual but no need at all for using the word ‘slag’ in it. Really poor taste and takes away how good our away support is.
I didn’t catch the game today so don’t know the song. I don’t particularly want to either. It’s rancid and it shines a light on “lads lads lads” culture. If you challenge these morons they dismiss it as “just banter” etc. Arseholes.
The usual "she won't shag you" comments whenever someone tries to defend her or even just mentions how idiotic the song is. Why on earth she keeps pumping money into this club with this amount of stick ill never know. Shes a better person than me because I'd let it rot.
They didn't use that word at Horwich the other day in her song. How did they change it? Weird to be getting personal.
It went... "I don't care about Julie, w_anker She don't care about me, slag All I care about is Barnsley FC" I don't like the song or its sentiment, even less so with the personal insults in there.
I find it petty. It seeks to separate the club, and presumably therefore any success it may experience, from the involvement of those who are underwriting it.
Even if she wasn’t part of a board pumping money into the club, the chant is unacceptable. The only objections against her then, is her actually being on social media and having the audacity to support our women's players - neither of which are a crime. Just idiotic and embarrassing to be singing stuff like this.
Fantastic support yesterday but I'm another who doesn't like this song and stand silent when it's being sung. I don' understand why JAQ receives so much stick and Neerav doesn't. I assume it's because: She's on social media (and I don't think he is?) She's been very supportive of the women's team? She's had the bottle to challenge some of the views expressed at fan forums? And most recently she's had the temerity to respond to the song on X when she commented that it was "harsh" - which itself prompted more abuse and suggestions she "get out of our club". Am I missing something else she's done to deserve it? And do those singing it get the irony - they can express their view but she can't? Unfortunately, it reflects pretty badly on us, it's unfair, unwarranted and is certainly misogynistic. Not good.
Have to say if thats what its descended into (I wasnt at Peterborough yesterday, i was at Salford City v Morecambe as i needed the ground) then it's completely out of order and i feel like a dick for defending the original version. Absolutely no need for it.
Pretty sure they didn't use that word on Boxing Day and the song was bad enough then. Dreading hearing it on NYD. It's going to be cringe and embarrassing. When it starts it wants drowning out by boos from the majority of the ground. It's no wonder kids today are so badly behaved when they hear garbage like that. At the Bolton game I was near a dad who had two primary school age children dropping Fs and Cs all afternoon without being told off.
I actually find it more annoying that people think it’s funny or “class”. Just shows how limited some people are. No actual thought process whatsoever. To anyone who thinks this enhances the atmosphere and will help bring folks back, that’s two people who were thinking of going on NYD now staying away from Oakwell now - I don’t want to be any part of this. Having congratulated fans for their turnout yesterday, I’m now cringing at some of our own. I guess you could say there has always been and always will be an element at every club that does stuff you don’t agree with, but stuff like this just ruins it for me.
Really poor taste. Maybe if people booed the song when they hear it. If enough decent fans showed this is unacceptable the idiots might stop.
