Always a warm, welcoming, and friendly pub on match days, will close its doors for the last time round about the end of this season.
The brewery has sold up and the new owner will build residential properties on the site.
The end of an era for many pre match drinkers.

I'd say Paul's given up in recent weeks. Old Mill selections finished almost 2 hours before kick-off, and one or two genuinely undrinkable pints. The Blackjack and Whyte Wolf were terrible yesterday. Real shame - it was our regular pre-match stop off. Decent atmosphere, good craic with away fans and a short stagger down Oakwell Lane.

Will be missed by me and my pre-match drinking buddies. Some great memories.

I enjoyed the Styrian Wolf yesterday. Fine example of a citrus pale.

Rising energy costs and the budget was more or less the final nail for many. 3 closed I know of since that budget and I expect more to follow.

A massive part of the clubs history goes with it. Early team meetings and changing rooms took place in that very spot where we now share a pre-match pint or two.

One of my favourite ever boozers.

True, a wonder if the club/owners had thought to buy it? Would’ve been a good edition to there armoury, local business and off-site fans pub on match day, a bet it would’ve drove a bit more business too

It's been on before and was excellent, but yesterday's was off, no doubt.

Pubs and clubs have been closing at a rate of knots for years now.

Like I said the final nail was the hike in minimum wage,NI, rising gas and electric prices. This is the 4th in recent times 3 before Xmas in what was leading up to a busy Xmas and New year time now another. Labour killed the pubs.

    Got an agenda much?

Dove went up for sale back in July

    https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/28983/pub-with-historic-barnsley-fc-link-goes-up-for-sale

Interesting last sentence in that article too:
“The considerable number of new pubs and bars that have opened in town over the last couple of years demonstrates the currently buoyant state of the trade.”

But if the trade was in such a good state someone could have took it over and made a go at it. Not a agenda more opinion but I realise it will be frowned upon.
