Luncheon is not taken at 3:30 in the afternoon for pity's sake. You're trampling all over the toes of afternoon tea. And braised steak and potatoes? For luncheon? Are you quite mad!
As I was growing up. 8am-10am Breakfast. Noon -2pm Dinner 4pm -6pm Tea 8pm -10 pm Supper In between biscuits and crisps. None of this Breakfast, Brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meal I blame the hotel industry.
8am - 9am: Breakfast 12pm - 1pm: Lunch 5pm - 6pm: Dinner 8pm - 9pm: Supper Tea is something you drink. If you're having breakfast beyond 9am you're not well. Even worse if you are eating after 9pm.
Also, on topic - one of the best things the current board implemented (these luncheons). Mainly Mrs Cryne. Yes, the food is decent and priced magnificently (it doesn't make the club any money). But the idea was to offer something regular like this every month for the older supporters among us. The 'Reminiscent Reds' idea run by the Community Trust at Oakwell is also tapping into that same area. It's important to look after and appreciate the people who've been backing the club for decades, and just as key to remember all those who came before us and helped make BFC what it is today.
Never bother with breakfast try and fast for 18 hours a day. Sometimes 24 hours between large meals. One meal a day mostly at tea time. Unless I'm drinking then I'll have something before I go out or at dinnertime if I'm at work. Work by the mantra if I don't put it in I don't have to burn it off being sat down all day. Don't eat potatoes or pasta either and try and do 10,000 steps or more daily otherwise I get the right hump. Normal day: Oxo with pepper or coffee in the morning. Two sandwiches at dinnertime and an oxo or cuppa soup or coffee. Cooked meal about six. (When I get back from my walk). If I'm having a drink. Couple of sausage rolls at dinnertime with the above cups of warm drinks. Nothing but calories from the booze. (Maybe a bar snack). Bed and sleep if off. Don't get hangovers if I don't have supper. Got that used to not having anything. Weekend without George: Beans or chilli on toast for breakfast. Then nothing else. Then Sunday dinner. Weekend with George: Macdonald's on Saturday and Sunday dinner. Cut that much food out of my diet that I easily get over phased and know when I'm full now. I didn't before.
