I'm half an hour away from Northampton and I'd say if the next few nights/mornings are anything like last night/this morning then there's no way it'll go ahead Hope I'm wrong though as I'm looking forward to it!
According to the Met Office, the temperatures between now and Saturday dip below freezing every night and only get slightly above zero each day. Sadly I think that the match is going to be postponed. (-5 tonight, -1 thursday/friday and -3 friday/saturday) The temperatures here in South Derbyshire have been similar for the last few days, I went out on my bike this afternoon and can confirm that all the muddy paths were frozen solid.
I'm heading back from Burgundy to Northants on Sunday so if it's postponed I should be able to go to the rearranged fixture. It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good.
Due to depart 7.30 Saturday morning. Hope that decide to leave later if the any pitch inspection. Looking at temperatures predicted can't see game going ahead as ground open to elements
Leaving home at 6am Saturday. Needs to be off Friday if it is gonna be. Really hope it isn’t as it’s a new ground for me and won’t make the rearrangement.
The problem with this league is that the pissy-arse clubs who’re out of form make zero effort to get the game on when it’s bad weather… See Exeter & Stevenage for that front, it’ll get called off.
Really hope it isn't called off, I genuinely have this excited feeling again around BFC for the first time in a while. We're in great form and don't want to disrupt the momentum, glad we've had 7 days off because we've played a lot of football in a short amount of time, but fingers crossed it doesn't get called off!
Just found this …postponed after frost same time 2023 https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/...d-town-called-off-due-to-frozen-pitch-3995921
My thoughts exactly; I can’t wait to go and it’s my birthday so was hoping a good win and three points would be my gift!
Not so sure small clubs can afford to deliberately have a late postponement, Catering and other expenses that are difficult to claw back can be a big bearing on their income. Then it will be a mid-week rearranged game with probably a smaller crowd. Not saying it hasn’t happened but my guess is it’s few and far between
The last time I saw the Reds play Northampton, it was a Thursday night. It was played at the cricket ground and Derek Bell got the winner. I saw the Reds draw 2-2 with Coventry at Sixfields a few years ago.
