To be right about it there no guarantee that the match would be played if we were scheduled for a home game. It’s not that long ago we had a home game postponed because the footpaths around the ground were deemed unsafe. Or have I just dreamt that?
It is what it is, which is the middle of our winter. Some clubs are just better equipped than others, and if I remember rightly, both the Exeter & Stevenage games were called off in January. I’m not sure what either clubs form was in the run up to those postponed games, or ours for that matter, but I do know Exeter had a long unbeaten record against us, and Stevenage finished just outside the playoffs and had beaten us at home.
To partially quote Mark Corrigan from Peep Show, I'd be more surprised if the game was on than if Sam Cosgrove laid down on the pitch and gave birth to a working replica of Stephenson's Rocket.
I live in Northampton and any grass that’s around the house and in the sun is fine. Just depends on how much of pitch is in the shade especially with new stand. I’ll look later when I drive by.
It'll definitely be postponed and the official reason will be a frozen pitch....... rightly so unfortunately.
I never got to the old County Ground but it must have been weird watching a match in such a location (same as Bramall Lane until they boxed it in and built the new stand). I was at the Sixfields for that Coventry match as well. Conor got his first goal for us if I remember rightly - a trademark curler from outside the box. Jim Bob was playing for the Sky Blues and (I think) scored for them, or was it a NEARLY scored for them? The build up to kick off was great with an instrumental only Led Zep's Kashmir being played over the tannoy for several minutes rising to a crescendo as the players came out. Now that was PROPER pre-match music . Another memory was seeing hundreds of Coventry fans on that hill behind the home end looking into the stadium. They were protesting at the owners making them play home games so far away from Coventry. There might have been as many up there as had paid for admission. That was definitely a Coventry away fixture that we should have won.
Undersoil heating? They haven’t even got a proper permanent stand - you can see straigh through it!!!
Was going down. Have family in mk twenty miles away. Pretty much the same forecast going forward and the same weather for the last few days. All the fields are frozen solid, (she’s a dog walker/petcare/overnight dog hotelier by profession) - the roads where not gritted are icy and she asserts there’s ’**** all chance they’ll be playing at that shithole satdy’ (living down south for twenty years has not improved her language or done much to her donny accent).
