It just winds up inside itself like an extension lead. It doesn’t need to be that long though as it just goes from the middle of my car to a tyre in any direction. It’s not like when you’re at a pump and you need to drag it around the outside of your car.

You’d think they’d have thought about it seen as the next place down the road do exactly that from the racecourse car park (as well as put a bus on between montague in Mexbrough and Donny royal).

I say exactly that, I’m pretty sure both the parking and bus is free.

Look at the time they take to inflate a tyre....the quick ones have more robust motors, less likely to overheat and cut out. Automatic shut off is also worth having.

The Mexborough/DRI bus is free and funded by the Fred & Ann Green Legacy. Fred, a Mexborough director of ASDA left his money to the hospitals. The Worksop/DRI bus is funded by car park charges.

I will never understand why all hospitals don't have multi story carparks. Every single one of them is short of parking spaces yet hardly any use multi stories.

I'm sure that Meccano one at Capitol Park wouldn't have cost that much. The one at Manchester RI might have though.

I wonder that is actual daily costs or whether it's an average cost including the original building cost.

I understand that they cost money but surely if town centres can make them profitable while charging less than hospitals generally do then logically so can hospitals

You've paid for the electricity to drive the compressor and to recoup the investment in infrastructure to provide the service.

I totally agree about hospital parking. Just been to visit my brother at Doncaster Royal, parked on Thorne Rd and walked. 3 hours free parking, no return within 4 hours. The area was awash with wardens applying parking tickets for Doncaster Council who must be making a fortune...

From the page i took it from, that's just the initial building cost. I thought we were saying that they should be built for staff/patients to park in for free, not to make them profitable though.

Good point, I think most people were. I was just saying that in general I don't understand why they aren't there anyway because all hospital carparks are full.

    Things that should be free….

Cash machines! Always say no when I realise they’re going to charge a quid to get a tenner out!

One of the reasons is history....most hospitals were initially built when virtually no-one had a car on sites that were big enough for the day.....over the years they were added piecemeal to, like Doncaster or knocked down and a new one built on the same site ie Barnsley, unless there's surplus land adjacent there often isn't room for the footprint of a multi storey ...without demolishing existing hospital facilities. The only completely new build I can think of locally is the Hallamshire, the car park is one of the highest in Sheffield and is still not big enough for today's demand.

I'm off to stock up on air before Aussie servos cotton on to charging too.

Most Hospitals now lease the car parking out to private parking companies.
Generally speaking the company pay a fixed sum to the Hospital and the PC keep all parking fees and fines generated during that period, more often than not they also take over the maintenance of the car park too.

Me, probably. Right lazy fooker. Imagine not being arsed when being paid 350k a week, and thats before appearance fees, goal bonus, other bonuses, sponsors etc. Mental. A shocking team player!
